talking about matchstick men, the 4 notes motif in Sherlock Holmes!
This score is how I thought, eclectic mix of styles. So...you will see a lot of changes in my opinion in the next days. -

I thought you knew, Jordi. Geoff Zanelli wrote this version for the movie
Nino Rota is credited though and Hans did make it clear in numerous interviews that he was inspired by, and even quoted a few tunes (from La Dolce Vita??). -

Yes. that was La Dolce Vita. Scott demanded it, I think.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

There is out there a song with Zimmer''s weird is good from Matchstick men.
It's a kind of chill out version with a woman singing in french.
Does anyone knows the name of the song and if Zimmer is credited?

I loved it too! -

The last seconds of the track when the heavy percusion and the synthetic horns are replaced by acordion and the electric violin is great.
I like the matchstick men/ as good as it gets bits. -

Boy that was an interesting movie. Did you ever see the behind the scene doc on that? It was a comedy, then it got way too dramatic after some editing and it sounded like Hans had to go back and rescored it. It explains how the soundtrack album had mostly the lighter cues and only a fewer "dramatic" and darker pieces, i.e. "Weird is Good". -

I can see RDJ as a disfunctional Sherlock Holmes walking down the street and talking to Watson...(in the Guy Ritchie version anyway). -

It sound like a fun score! I very much like the main recurring theme and those two serious sounding tracks also seem good. And wow, a track 18+ minutes in length! -

Well, the samples sound like Zimmer (except the Matchstick Men-like Morricone-inspired stuff) went out of the box really, as Dan Schweiger said. Clemmensen ** (Zimmer tries to be original, but it's Zimmer, typical)http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Trilogy, the group headed by Eleksey, has an album of Morricone covers and a few liner notes from The Maestro himself. Recommended. I was very happy when Hans got them to play on the Splanglish score. -

Keywords to this score seem to be 'surprising', 'wildly experimental' and 'Ennio Morricone'. So, no pressure, then. I'm intrigued, although it sounds to me more like a mixture of his previous styles than that he is exploring any new ground. Anyhow, Discombulate sounds incredibly addictive and if the score is as fun as that clip is, I'm in for probably one of the most entertaining, fun scores of the year! -
