    Emmy-nominated composer Blake Neely recorded his score to the HBO documentary David McCullough: Painting with Words, the follow-up to Playtone's epic miniseries John Adams, which ScoringSessions.com covered last week. Now we had a chance to pop by the Conway Studios and see them working on this new documentary score, so be sure to check out the exclusive photos!

    Last night, a tribute to Senator Edward Kennedy was shown at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.     LOL - snap!!!

    Politics aside, my point was that we got a LOT of great coverage of the session - which was the last one at Paramount - so do check out the video and stuff.

    No worries, Dan, just couldn't pass up the opportunity to get political again. wink

    That theme is very elegiac, and I was reminded of Westwing...not sure why. Maybe the tempo and instrumentation. Quite possibly it was just the name that invoked the association. smile

    Great stuff Dan. Thanks.

    Blake's theme is very nice, not typically Americana (which is good), but has its own character. Very grand orchestral passage with a nice expansive melody to match.

    I assume you meant "MORE" wink I hope to do it when I can. I have more session pieces coming up without video, but... we'll see what can be done going forward.

    BTW, a horrible piece of artwork for such a beautiful score (it's Neely's company/label style I think).

    Neely's RESURRECTION, from this year's abc show, is very beautiful too; restrained, melancholic, wholly orchestral with piano and strings prominent. Check it out.
