It is interesting Alan that you've never obtained the Centaur or the Marco Polo release.

I too am looking forward to this release although my communications with John have been over Arsenic and Old Lace another wonderful Maxie score.

Max Steiner is a composer whose work I've never really warmed to. Hence, I haven't actively looked into scores like Charge of The Light Brigade - until now.

I have the "classics" like Gone With The Wind, King Kong & The Searchers plus a few others, but Charge of The Light Brigade seems a bit different from what I have heard of his already. I'm tempering my enthusiasm slightly until I've heard some more clips.

Almost a year later this massive release has finally arrived. At nearly 100 minutes of material for a film that ran 100 minutes it was nearly all music. It goes without saying that I enjoy it and am looking forward to putting together a review of it.

The crowning achievement on this score is the 9+ minute "Charge of the Light Brigade"

This is a classical work in many respects. Max, as some of you know, never delved into that area of music.

They should. Top notch release. From the performance to the sound to the actual CD presentation... all 5 star efforts. I can't WAIT for The Prince and Pauper.

I bought it ages ago but I think that it got held up at SAE whilst they waited for a Japanese import I ordered at the same time.

I'm definitely itching to hear it.

It really is great. I agree with Tom about the 9minute Charge cue, the brass gets a nice work out!

What I also love about collecting all these magnificent Steiner and Korngold scores is that they always make me watch the films they were written for. So well made. So perfectly scored!
Now I'm a complete devote of these wonderful golden age films from Warner Brothers, RKO etc.
Errol Flynn has fast become one of my favorite actors!
And yes, roll on The Prince And The Pauper! cool
