Just wanted to inform you guys, there's been a petition created yesterday for encouraging Yates to bring back John Williams to score Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2 here -

    http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Will … r_Hallows/

It's still early so it might make a difference. Sign if you want! wink

Seems unnecessary, yeah, but since it's Yates directing, it's very likely he'll want to bring Hooper back to score the last film. Though this petition is seemingly only to act as a catalyst smile

I'm pretty sure that Yates hired Hooper for the previous Potter just because Williams wasn't available. As soon as he is, he (or Warner Bros.) will insist on using John wink

... bear in mind these will be the last of Potter -- i doubt they'll settle for anyone but Williams -- who scored the first of the Potter films.

Which retail store is more likely to ship out Indy 4 the fastest? I'd use Deep Discount for that, but it's not listed yet. Anyone have the UPC code?

Well, if price is an issue, Amazon has Indy 4 up for preorder at the fantastic price of $9.99!!!!

---- Well, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't a no holds barred, adrenaline fueled thrill ride. But, there is no way you can perpetrate that amount of carnage and mayhem and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork.

I wonder how long it would take for it to arrive?

Is Wal-Mart planning on carrying it?

I suspect I'll be buying this from Amazon. UK release date seems to be weeks after US so it'll be quicker (and cheaper) to buy it from Amazon.com than Amazon.co.uk which is very silly indeed (are we not in a global marketplace? - what's the point of Amazon.co.uk if the same things take longer to arrive and are more expensive?)

What I've frequently noticed is that the Amazon UK release dates initially appear to be the same and then they push them back about 10 times.

Will Colosseum sell it? Or are the just Varese specialists?

I find eBay is quite a good place for newer stuff (most things I buy have been out for ages)

I might be wrong, but I thought Colosseum was Varese's European label...

Colosseum is the European Label of Varese Sarabande and is only selling CDs from Varese Sarabande.

That explains why lots of Varese releases have the Colosseum URL on the back. I thought they were paying loads to advertise. cheesy

Deep Discount finally has Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull up for preorder, so I immediately placed my order. It's $13.97 but it does include free shipping. And it's one company that does ship out stuff a few days, or a week in advance.

I was one of the 3,000 U.S. customers who got sent their copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows four days ahead of its July 21st date -- maybe DD will repeat their performance for the CD release of Indy 4? *crosses fingers*

And on a less positive note, I noticed that Silva will be re-releasing their awful Indy trilogy compilation CD on May 13th. *shudders*

I've not heard the Silva re-recording, is it that bad?

I'd like to hear various opinions.

Yup. It is -- you have a different singer for "Anything Goes" (both in English and a Cantonese version) and the size of the ensemble used sounds small.

Silva Screen should stay away from doing compilation re-recordings for John Williams' music in general. You need an ensemble that can really capture the complexity and power of the composition -- like the LSO, the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra or a L.A. studio orchestra. Their Harry Potter compilation CD is equally terrible -- the "Prisoner of Azkaban Suite" in particular is not well-performed at all.

Just where do you think you'll get an advance copy? I know you have quite a few contacts in the music world (like Giacchino and McKenzie), but I don't know if Concord will do that.

But have you gotten new Williams scores in advance a few years back? confused

    What an odd post.

    confused

Why the hell wouldn't they send me a copy?

As for getting Williams scores... in the past 11 years I've received ALL of John Williams' new scores on CD for FREE... including radio advances of ALL 3 Star Wars prequel scores. I actually presented the world broadcast premiere of The Phantom Menace back in 1999 that actually shut down the entire college internet server due to the amount of listeners trying to tune in on-line to the live stream.
