I believe he used a program called "paulstrech". You can download it here (free and legal).

Tomanddandy, asche and spencer, michael brooks do that kind of music for years now and most people call it 'crap' and snooze-fest.

    You people are amazing!

But... but... it's the theme from Jurassic Park... which IS amazing!!!

    Exactly my point smile

I don't necessarily think it's a symphony of awesomeness... I do however thinks its a "neat" experiment. I could only take about 2-3 minutes of that Jurassic Park clip before I had to shut it off... HOWEVER, something like THE DIG... well, I love the entire album.

But what I think is most interesting about the stretched out theme to Jurassic Park is that you can still hear and recognize the main melodies.

Well by itself it's not awesome by a long shot, but when put under the right kind of visuals it could actually contribute a lot, like Philip Glass' minimalist scoring also contributes to Koyaanisqatsi and the like. I don't know it just feels perfect for a film about space exploration. I'd just pick any sort of IMAX documentary that involves many fantastic shots of the cosmos and edit it to the music and that could turn out to be AWESOME. If I had the time I would probably try something like that. smile

So THIS is how John Williams wrote the Jurassic Park theme... he just took some old Vangelis stuff and sped it up 80 times... voila! smile

  4. I thought he was in his 80s already. Whatever...I'm looking forward to his score for The War Horse, whenever it comes out.
  5. Well, I didn't knew where to put this, but I'm going to put here. I've uploaded in Youtube, the documentary about the music of Harry Potter, which it comes in the Ultimate Edition of Goblet of Fire:

    Yes, thanks for sharing.

But I agree with franz....I could live perfectly well without this film. I hate animal-driven films that aren't animation.
    I am extremely serious.
  8. AU HASARD BALTHAZAR looks set to hold its crown.
But Thor, it isn't the fact that it's about an animal that makes me gawk. (Although I agree, few realistic films about animals really justify the existence of the genre - it works better when they're basically humans, as in BABE or ANIMAL FARM.) It's the Spielbergian sentimentality of it all. I can see beat-by-beat this film playing out. A dash of FAR AND AWAY (cue John Williams doing Oirish towards the end of the trailer), a bit of BLACK BEAUTY / STALLION, and LEGENDS OF THE FALL style war to top it off.

It looks just fine by me. Lots of patented Spielberg shots in there. I see this being more of a throw back to Empire of the Sun. A story told through the eyes of the boy.

Well... there is a way to get this right:

Forget everything bad that happened to cinema during the last twenty-five years.

Pretend you´re still living in a world were movies work wonders with your soul.

Then go and watch this trailer again.

    Let´s see what happens.

Erik, I´m totally with you on this one.
