  1. I have just uploaded at maintitles.net my thoughts on Tony Riparetti's score for the 1997 film Mean Guns:

    http://www.maintitles.net/reviews/mean-guns/

A B-movie starring Christopher Lambert and Ice-T with featuring a mambo-style score? How could things get any better!

I thoroughly enjoyed this score. Loved the mambo music. Am intrigued how it fits into the film.

  3. I have just uploaded some comments on Paul Leonard-Morgan's Dredd:

    http://www.maintitles.net/reviews/dredd/

It was a difficult one to write - both in terms of content and also because it has been a while since I reviewed anything.

    Comments would be welcomed.

Hmmmm? It certainly doesn't make me want to hear it. I agree about A HISTORY OF SCOTLAND, a very fine score.

Yes. Considering we know he's capable of very fine melodic writing I can only wonder that he was asked to give this kind of soundscape of a score.

I think that's right. He has some "form" with this style of composing: his music for the later series' of Spooks and his music for last year's film Limitless certainly point to the fact that, when asked, he can compose for this style.

And I sense that he feels right at home doing this sort of stuff.

  6. I have a kind request.

I am considering writing some reviews in English and of course I'd like to present them on this website. What I would like to know is if there are scores you would like to have reviewed by me and aren't covered already smile

To be honest Pawel, I always enjoy reading your occasional analyses in the NP thread so, while this may not be a very helpful response, I'm sure you could review anything and it would make an interesting read.

I think an interesting book might be something like "100 essential film score albums" where say ten critics choose ten albums each and give genuinely in-depth reasons as to why they chose them. You'd maybe fiddle it a bit so they didn't all choose the same things and you'd have to have people with genuinely different tastes so a wide variety of scores would be represented. Of course, nobody would buy it, but it might be fun to put together.
