Had a listen today. It's OK, although probably not something that will enter my digital collection. Lots of "chilliness" to denote the subject matter, no doubt. Detached string and piano harmonies, modern tonal language. Staccato rhythms. That being said, I've been fascinated by Gabriel for quite some time now. Part time DJ/electronica guru, part time contemporary classical composer. I wonder what his granddad would have thought.

Currently listening through some 1500+ 2022 titles for the annual lists, from all over the world. Not a lot of interesting things so far, but here and there a gem. Like Nigel Westlake's BLUEBACK. I have about 8 titles that will probably be in my top 10, a lot of runner-ups. Trying to find 2 more to make it a top 10, or perhaps some fantastic gem that will squeeze some of the current 8 out.
    I am extremely serious.

While I do not agree, I can see your points concerning Litvinenko. We can guess all day, assume Sergei would not agree to his grandson's approach, method and thought in his day and age, by that's just the thing..... It's uncomparable.

I enjoyed it too. I wasn't even aware Mika had that kind of background and talent, although I obviously dig a lot of his songs.

Yes, I noticed you didn't mention it in your review. Which is kinda funny.

While I listened to a variety of his previous music and songs in writhing this review, I have no clue for what reason he is liked in terms of songs; it all sounds generic and soulless. Therefore, I pay little attention to his heritage and just focus on the score and songs of this specific film. Which is kinda logical wink

What is funny to me, is that someone (I already forgot who) wrote in a score review that certain aspects of this score were innovative. The very thought puzzles me.

Thanks. Actually, in recent years the positive feedback from composers, labels and readers has increased significantly.

I second Alan. Especially the focus on less-talked-about composers and titles, which has always been your trademark, Joep.

In essence, it's just the three of us keeping the board alive now. I 100% stand by what I said in one of the last Zoom chats, a complete reboot of the board -- either if Bregt does it here, or if I re-install the board over on CT, or some other solution.
    I am extremely serious.

    Here is another one:

I vaguely recall your 'religious sound' preferences... Perhaps this suits you.

Do many other boards - other than FSM - have much traffic? I don't frequent any others.

I am not sure there's the interest for a messageboard. Maybe something like WhatsApp is better? Whatever happens the reviews need to be preserved.
