I will be reviewing here mostly. The reviews that I have uploaded there already are old ones that used to be on Scorereviews but are no longer available.

I have mentioned to Bregt about this other site I've started and I asked if it would be possible for me to add the reviews that I submit here first at MainTitles onto Reel Music at a later date. He seems fine with this.

Over the years there's been a few things I've tried to do: the reviews, the Ten Track random lists, cue-by-cue breakdowns, book reviews, etc. I want to see if I can bring all of them together into one place. Whether it works or not, I'll just have to see.

  4. Lakeshore needs to do something about it's promo copies for review. An almost 1GB download is a tad too big to be convenient.

William Perry's second release for Naxos is a good one. Music For Great Films of the Silent Era is every bit inviting as Carl Davis. On first listens many times I can't form an opinion but on this one I can and it is very positive. This was just released by Naxos and there will be a physical CD. For now I'm listening to a 320 download.

  10. I've just uploaded some comments on Carter Burwell's Rob Roy.

It's an excellent score and I'm grateful I had a chance to hear it.

Glad you like it, I think it's his best score.

I watched THE ALAMO this afternoon, film was pretty good but I thought Burwell's score was very good.

    Nice Alan, thanks for adding.

It's a favourite of mine too. I really like the action pieces in Rannoch Moor Suite.

Are you a dark haired Alan btw? wink

  12. I've just uploaded a review of Jeanine Tesori's score for Every Day:

    http://www.maintitles.net/reviews/every-day/

It may seem to some that I have "over analysed" this one. But, as I was listening to the score and reading up on what the film was actually about, I could begin to see parallels between the story and the music.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows both the film and the music to see if I am just talking a lot of rubbish!

Alan, you keep bringing em', way to go smile

Just one tiny question, could I post a review this friday? It's for a composer we met in Spain, and I would like to contact him. And a review does help then wink

nonetheless excellent work man, keep up the good job!
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh
  15. Sure, Thomas! You go right ahead and do one yourself! wink

I have been able to "Facebook" composers with links to reviews and they always seem to be willing to take the yime to comment.
