LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (500 EDITION / PRE-ORDER) (CD)
    Johan Soderqvist

    Sample Tracks

Combining dark orchestral textures with a strikingly melodic beauty, Johan Söderqvist has written a truly unique score for Let the Right One In. Tomas Alfredson’s film is based on the vampire novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist and has won numerous international awards. The music is performed by the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra and features what is sure to be considered one of the single finest film themes in recent time: “Eli’s Theme”.

“One of the things I try to do with every new picture is to find a unique sound, a new universe, which will suit the story and give it a musical personality. For Let the Right One In, I discovered an instrument called the bass waterphone, which I recorded endless samples of and then tweaked and worked into the fabric of the score. This defined the musical voice of this particular film,” composer Johan Söderqvist says.

    2. Eli and Oscar 3:12
    3. Eli’s Theme 2:41

"Johan Söderqvist's orchestral score enhances the different yet coherent moods with brio." - European Films

    "Perfectly pitched score" - Fangoria

"A suitably moody soundtrack..." - Twitch

"Discreet but evocative score..." - Matt Riviera

One of the most acclaimed feature films of 2008, Swedish horror drama Let the Right One In has won over a dozen international film awards, including top honours at the Tribeca Film Festival, Woodstock and Sitges. Following the US premiere of the film on October 24, MovieScore Media releases the strikingly original orchestral score by acclaimed Swedish composer Johan Söderqvist (Things We Lost in the Fire, Brothers, After the Wedding), who has crafted a very personal score.

The music effectively juxtaposes elements of melodic beauty with dark and ominous textures (including the use of the unusual instrument, the bass waterphone).

"Writing the music for Let the Right One In gave me a rare opportunity to write a score that consists of both darkness and light. The filmmakers weren´t looking for your typical horror soundtrack. The most important quality of the music in this film had to be melody and harmony, so even if the overall tone of the film and the score is dark and atmospheric, there is always a sense of hope and beauty," composer Johan Söderqvist says.

Sorry about this delay... the company that runs the shop for me is undergoing some kind of reconstruction which is preventing them from adding new titles to the store. I hope that the situation will be resolved soon.

As i said elsewhere, Let the Right One In by Johan Söderqvist contains some of the most emotionally intense, melodic and gripping pieces i've heard this year which - as standalone tracks, are some of the brightest highlights: "Eli's Theme" and "Let the Right One In". Excellent work as always by him but then again i am sucker for Johan Söderqvist's music.
