Actually, no it doesn't. It does the opposite! What an awful muddy mess the mix is.

Either you must have the best pair of ears known to humankind or we're listening to two different scores. moon

No, because I've heard the original mix and the fact that I was there at the sessions so I know how the orchestra sounded before Wallin farted around with it after the sessions and after Steve Smith's initial mix.

Which score are we talking about now? dizzy

Mercenaries. Just compare the sound of that score to the mix of SWON or Frontline. Night and day!

I really like the use of electric guitar in the main theme, gives it a kick-ass vibe.

I like this score too! ( afraid the film didn't do a lot for me )

Have you heard 12 and 13? As good as? Not as good as? Better than?

Indeed. I was listening to that the other day, such a beautifully melodic in places and haunting in others - score with such a dark and at the same time ethereal and captivating atmosphere overall, certainly one of Newman's best scores. I long for the day he'll return to that type of quality work again.

I don't think Newman ever gives anything but quality!

I'd love to hear what Newman would come up with in the realm of Action or Sci-Fi? If only some film makers would take their earplugs out and think outside of the usual pigeon-holing.

WALKING WITH BEASTS is a fantastic album, not one bad or boring track in the entire running length and with more than a few standout cues! LOVE IT!

I'd like to hear more from Bartlett who I think is an exceptional talent.

    JOHN POWELL - Stop Loss

Halfway down the album and i like what i hear so far. With the loud electric guitars on overdrive laid ontop of dramatic string coupled with some modern americana rock writing reminding us Bear McCreary's excellent hip thriller scores for "Rest Stop" and "Wrong Turn 2: dead end", this essentially sounds like a rawer, less dramatic and slightly less offbeat cross of UNITED 93 (same techniques esp. on the string section, touch, style and his trademarked sound design that he used in the afore-mentioned score) and it's quite interesting for those drawn to such listens. The repeated 4-note based solemn main theme stamping almost each and every track along with the overall nature flow of the score help a lot as well. Much better and more genuine than Horton Hears a who if you ask me.
