I believe I will skip the entire film and this comes from an Arthur loony. Bates score for Guardians 2 I will buy should there be special edition release like the last time. Kurzel's music for Covenant surprised me in a positive way.

    EP. 48 – RE-RECORDING JAMES HORNER

    http://www.cinematicsound.net/ep-48-re- … es-horner/

Over the past few years, we hear at CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO have been paying our respects to two-time Academy Award winning composer James Horner with various radio specials including a four hour plus special produced a few days after his death. We also produced a two-part series last year featuring some of his lesser known film scores. Jason Drury has also been producing an epic three-part radio documentary in Horner’s honour. The third and final part of that program is scheduled to be released next week right here on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO.

James Horner was part of a holy trinity of film composers I grew up with admiring. The others were John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith. Those three brought me into the world of film music with their timeless and classic scores and made me a fan of this art form for life.

Today's program is dedicated to re-recorded James Horner music. Fans of the show know of my love for re-recordings or new recordings of previously existing scores so I thought this would be a unique way to mark the 2nd anniversary of James Horner's passing. Today's program will include performances by The City of Prague Philharmonic, The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, The Boston Pops Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Solo performers include flutist Sara Andon, pianist Jean-Michel Bernard, pianist Dan Redfeld, and violinist Mari Samuelsen. Conductors including Nic Raine, John Scott, John Williams, Erich Kunzel, David Arnold, Joel McNeely and John Debney.

It was a very good day, thanks guys... partially because I watched Titanic again. cool

I have the entire 'The Music of James Horner' from Silva Screen on CD, and as compilations go, this is one of my faves. I would even go as far as say that some recordings are better than or equal to the originals. And I do totally enjoy the reverse chronological sequencing.

Also, most Kunzel takes on various Horner cues are stunning as well. Cocoon (Star Tracks II) being one that perfectly captures the awe-inspiring wonder and heartfelt emotion of the main theme.

  7. I was listening to Eriks program earlier and it's interesting that I actually prefer the synthetic voices over the real ones in that Titanic suite, which is a fine alternative. I've grown so used to the soundtrack album of Titanic and the synths have never ever sounded off to me. I love everything about that score as Horner wrote it.

I also had never heard those piano only renditions before. That may be due to the fact I normally don't enjoy single instrument music. There are exceptions of course.
