  2. Great show, Erik, as usual. I was really glad to hear the Aaltio and Sato scores, which I hadn't heard yet. I'm surprised MSM didn't release Aaltio's score. They've worked with him a lot, and I've really enjoyed everything they've produced of his. I was happy to see all of the other scores you highlighted. They're all very worthy. Listening to them again reminded me of just how much I enjoyed them. Particular tracks really wowed me again, especially "The Kaneki Metamorphosis." What a fantastic composition! I also really love all the tracks you played from McCreary's score. "Innocence" is my favorite cue of 2017. I also loved the story you told about Austin Wintory, as well as the information you shared about Kerber, who I knew very little about. Bravo!

FAVOURITE SCORES OF 2017 | PART II

    http://www.cinematicsound.net/favourite … 7-part-ii/

On today’s episode, we are presenting the long-awaited, final episode of our TOP 20 FAVOURITE SCORES OF 2017 program. I’ve been absent from the program for about a month now. A terrible flu ripped through my family in February, which also affected me, and only now am I starting to feel somewhat normal.

The first part of our countdown celebrated selections 20 through to 11. You can hear that program by going to http://www.cinematicsound.net/favourite … 17-part-i/

Today’s program presents suites from selections 10 through to 1 featuring the film, TV and video game music of Alexandre Desplat, John Williams, Theodore Shapiro, Jonny Greenwood, Yoko Kanno, George Kallis, Christopher Willis, Yasunori Mitsuda and Michael Giacchino.

While I’m sure your personal best of 2017 list is very different than mine, I never expect anyone’s favourites to mirror my own, I offer you a chance to put me in my place. Please feel free to contact me or write in the comments section below with scores that I might have left off the list.

    With that, enjoy the countdown!

The problem with Aaltio's score 95 is that it came so late that I believe not all people got a chance to hear. I gave it a spot in the top 5, just because it blew me away so easily. Again Aaltio rarely disappoints because he goes for the emotion and the themes. Old school approach I know but hey that's me

  5. I Just finished listening to the program. Some tracks I wasn't jet familiar with, so that was especially interesting. Great chart show!
Note: I prefer the "How the West Was Won" suite as recorded on Silva, because it includes the choir.

  6. And Erik did of course include "How the West Was Won". He choose the Kunzel suite without choir but with a very good representation of the score as a whole.

To be fair... the original recording of the main title doesn't include the chorus! That's the arrangement Kunzel used in his suite.
