Looking forward to that; the first one - while nothing special, it was a very creepy, eerie score.

    David Julyan: The Descent 2

David Julyan's dark orchestral music for the 2005 horror hit The Descent is probably his most acclaimed film score so far. He has now confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores that he will begin work on the music for the sequel later this year.

Yeah, that's a very eerily hypnotic in a mystique way score, especially if you've seen the movie too.

  1. The Descent 2?
Oh god give me a break. A great horror film and ditto score receives this pile of sequel crap.
Ah well, if the score is as good as the first musically there will be nothing to complain about rolleyes

Mmm... Maybe the score will be cool, but I'm not holding my breath. The Descent was pretty neat, with a great and chilling climax, but I didn't think it was as great as some have said. Some nice atmospheric moments, though.

I particularly loved his beautiful score for Memento, by the way, and I'm among the very few who thought his work for The Prestige was excellent. Yet, I'm starting to feel he's quite a limited composer, which might be the reason why he isn't getting all that many projects.

The prestige was an excellent score, elevated the movie like very few. But on cd, it was TOO long and dragged, especially for those who haven't watched the (very good btw) movie. The descent was kick ass horror score, i believe the 2nd one will move in the same vein as well.

It's a shame we haven't really heard from Julyan since his departure from Nolan (which some of us heard him rant about during a drunken night in Ghent). Any noteworthy things from him in the last decade or so?
    I am extremely serious.
