Just listening to the preview clips on iTunes for The Life Before Her Eyes. The score sounds really quite lovely - very soft and relaxing. Might have to seek this out at some point.

    cool

Although, for some reason, the iTunes 'review' of the album is for The Land Before Time! biggrin
  1. Review of The Life Before Her Eyes (with sound clips) at jameshorner.de: http://www.jameshorner.de/site/disc/cd/ … _en.html#R
  2. Seems that Horner will continue his collaboration with Vadim Perelman on Atlas Shrugged according to an interview with the director:
Box Office Mojo: Composer James Horner scored both House of Sand and Fog and The Life Before Her Eyes. Will he score Atlas Shrugged?

Vadim Perelman: Yes. I would like for him to score everything I do.

  3. Interview with one of the Atlas Shrugged producers:
SP: The music of Rand's character Richard Halley plays an important part in the novel. What are your plans for music?

Aglialoro: I'm looking for an epic musical composition, the sort that contributed so much to films like Out of Africa, The Natural, and Titanic.

Maybe Horner should also play this character. wink

    5: A life shared - a life halved (4:57)
6: ...the eternal window lights us all... (7:02)
7: John is killed by a terrible disease (6:33)

I would copyright this three track titles if I were you, they are particularly brilliant and likely to appear in future Horner albums. wink

The single most popular review (in terms of page hits) at Movie Wave is this one I wrote two years ago. What could it be - Titanic? Lord of the Rings? Star Wars?

Nope... it's James Horner's Where the River Runs Black.

Obviously because people are looking for synth pan flute cd's on the internet instead of each possible market square at touristic places where two guys with panflutes sell their music.

Perelman seems to be off Atlas Shrugged:
    http://www.cinematical.com/2008/06/19/b … ff-atlas-/

From the author of the novel about The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas:
... The film is now finished and I saw it for the second time; on this occasion James Horner’s beautifully evocative score has been added to the print. ...

    http://johnboyne.wordpress.com/2008/05/ … ovie-news/
  4. Another entry in the blog of the author (from June 6th):
This was the 3rd time I’d seen the movie and every time I see/appreciate something different. This time, I have to say it’s James Horner’s beautiful and evocative piano score which stayed in my mind afterwards. The theme is such an elegant piece of music; we were very lucky to have such a successful and in-demand composer lend his gifts to the film.

  6. That looks like quite a film. Horner's score sounds like A Beautiful Mind during the first half of it.

I'm sorry, but this alone keeps me away from the score! Is it really nessecary to have so much music? Considering anywhere else music is thrown away that actually is important?

I hope this score is worth that time

Jesus, not that it's much different to Southall's. Horner needs to take a lesson from Giacchino when naming his cues.

    Yeah, LOL! smile biggrin
  10. I would love to have those track titles printed on the case, haha what a joke. I like how one is a total plot spoiler...

Yeah seriously recent Horner soundtracks really suffer from the long releases, most notably The New World, which was too much of the same thing.

If he (once my favourite composer) doesn't return to composing memorable stuff that's actually enjoyable for 70-80 minutes I will get less and less interested in these overlong releases. Now The Legend of Zorro remained interesting the whole time through. We need more of THAT.
