I agree with what Matt said... and I haven't even heard it.

Well I am glad you agree with me. I realized after I wrote it that didn't want to sound like I was attacking your opinion.

    I also like the clip.

Also, I will now spend the next month regretting that I listened to it. Fortunately, it sounded pretty much exactly like I expected it to, so I'm not spoiled so much as satisfied.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

  1. I think the clip sounds great. The string melody is very good and not reminding me of anything he's written before. I liked everything going on underneath the strings, too. I'm more excited about this score now than I was (I've been hesitant to get my hopes up).

I very much doubt that Horner has ever heard that. It's ripped off from Jupiter from The Planets by Holst, just the same as Horner's Braveheart theme is.

First of all, those presenters are annoying. Secondly, why the fuck do they use music from The Island when introducing a program about Horner's music? This will mislead just about everyone who isn't a film music geek! Thirdly.... yay, Horner! cheesy

  4. I'm going to ignore all the clips and audio spoilery thingimajigs for the time until release day and let myself be totally surprised by what the man has come up with. For me it could go either way, or he will have written his best score of the decade, or it will be a total dud. Until I've gone and bought it, I will ignore all what has been said and make up my own mind after I've put that shiny disc in my mini-stereo. I think that's the sensible thing to do. smile

But it better be the most fucking incredible score he has done in years or I'll not be able to contain myself!!!!!!

    Thanks to Mikael Carlsson's heads-up:

Brief ‘Avatar’ interview with Horner posted

Hollywood Dailies has posted a brief interview with composer James Horner, shot during the last day of scoring sessions for the much anticipated James Cameron sci-fi epic Avatar. The video features several quick glimpses of the big orchestral score, with the 56-year old Horner conducting the orchestra wearing a baseball cap. Horner says that he was allowed to work exclusively on the film for about a year and that Cameron didn’t want him to work on other projects during the time. “He did’t want me to dilute it,” Horner comments.

It's a pity you can't really hear what's going on in the orchestra, just some short moments.
