I hadn't listened to the all clips at SAE for the new Star Trek II release until now... shocked

I'm now even more looking forward to this CD arriving. The newly included tracks are going to make the whole listening experience quite different. Up until now, listening to this CD gave a good guys vs bad guys actioneer score. But having the added tracks there gives greater depth to the score on CD: adding more of a nasty edge to it.

Also, I couldn't help but hear some Herrmann influences in the pieces underscoring Khan's influence over the Starfleet personnel.

Love those scores. All in good fun. smile
  1. Yeah Jeremy Soule knows a thing or two about writing great themes. Too bad much of the underscore in his soundtracks is of the filler brand. I can totally understand if the guy has to write 3-4 hours of original music for one game. shocked

One of his better recent ones is Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

  2. I think a short clip of Horner's score is playing on the official Avatar webpage:

  3. Holy shit indeed.

I've ordered it as well, at SAE. I think the moment the package arrives, I'll sprint upstairs at warpspeed 9 and put that disc on. punk

  4. Yes by the time I'll come back the rebooted Star Trek VIII will be playing in the theatre, with music composed by Giacchino's grandson, haha. cheesy

Take lottery numbers into the past on the first slingshot because you'll need bucket loads to catch up on all the scores you've missed.

I was actually disappointed in the Natty Gann release.
I have a better (my opinion) and longer recording of the score.

  5. Coincidently, that's what I was playing today. Seems all the film score lover stars are aligning for 24 hours.

I'm VERY happy with the new release. Considering I have only ever heard that bootleg (oh, the horror to hear such fine music butchered), it's a huge step up.

I haven't heard the bootleg version. My version is from what I believe to be the only original tape on the planet (with the exception of Horner's copy).

I'm with James. Natty Gann is the release of the year. Multiple spins from me already and I can see myself going back to this one at any given time! Brilliant score, brilliant album, brilliant label.

That's high up there too but what wins me over with Natty Gann is that it was a previously unreleased score and something we thought would never see the light of day. Sure, a complete Wrath of Khan seemed unlikely as well but at least for the past 27 years or so we have had a legit LP, cassette, CD of the Khan score to listen to unlike Gann where we really had nothing. Gann for the win!!!

So do I. An outstanding score and a fantastic realise.
Two thumps up for Intrada and their recent realise of those three Horner scores (Natty Gann, Something wicked, Shrunk kids).

I'd like to dedicate this song to ALL my friends RIGHT HERE at maintitles.net:

    "If we hold on together"
    Lyric: Will Jennings

    Don't lose your way
    With each passing day
    You've come so far
    Don't throw it away
    Live believing
    Dreams are for weaving
    Wonders are waiting to start
    Live your story
    Faith, hope & glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

    If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
    Where clouds roll by
    For you and I

    Souls in the wind
    Must learn how to bend
    Seek out a star
    Hold on to the end
    Valley, mountain
    There is a fountain
    Washes our tears all away
    Words are swaying
    Someone is praying
Please let us come home to stay

    If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
    Where clouds roll by
    For you and I

When we are out there in the dark
    We'll dream about the sun
In the dark we'll feel the light
    Warm our hearts, everyone

    If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As high as souls can fly
    The clouds roll by
    For you and I
