BASIL POLEDOURIS

- CommentTimeNov 28th 2007
At Timmer's suggestion, a separate thread for one of the finest film composers in our modern era, and one that is sorely missed.
I'm greatly looking forward to Lennertz' arrangement on Poledouris' first sketches on Bunyan And Babe'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

BUMP!
Listening to FLESH + BLOOD. -
- CommentTimeDec 9th 2007
And well you should, as it's one of Basil's most flamboyant outings!
It would be hard for me composing a top 5 of Poledouris scores...just too many scores vying for an equal place.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

No kidding. There's so many that are OOP and I'll probably never get to have either, like WIND, SWITCHBACK, MAKING THE GRADE etc. Oh well.
Thank goodness for Prometheus and their reissues of QUIGLEY, CHERRY 2000, FLESH + BLOOD, FAREWELL TO THE KING, not to mention the others they put out. -

Just wanted to remind everyone of this hilarious encounter with Basil:

Wow! Congrats Mikael! -

Thanks guys! It's exciting for sure and a really nice score. Working on the album has been a rather emotional experience given the fact that Basil was taken away from us much too early. He was really one of the best!!!

I wonder what hte chancs are of MSM doing his score for "The Touch".The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -
- CommentTimeFeb 4th 2008
But there IS a release for The Touch?
(insanely out of print and quite impossible to get in any dimension even vaguely adjacent to this one, but still...)'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -
- CommentTimeFeb 4th 2008
Thanks for asking, but we're looking primarily at scores that have never been released on CD before.
mc -
- CommentTimeFeb 4th 2008
Technically it was never released on CD in the U.S.A. ;-)
Besides, you'll get a good score out there for people to afford it and easily find, and make some money. The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -
- CommentTimeFeb 4th 2008
I was lucky enough to grab a factory pressed CD of The Touch before I left China. In fact, I just listened to that CD this morning. -
- CommentTimeFeb 4th 2008
Sure, rub it in.
Yeah, I had to have my copy shipped from Korea.
Pretty much the last one in existence from the effort I put into it.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Perhaps you mispelled his name, like you did in the title of your thread. That's the problem with search engines, you have to spell correctly.
