I saw this game on another forum and it seemed like a lot of fun. Basically, you just post a screen grab from any film and then everyone tries to identify what movie it's from. Whoever answers correctly gets to post the next screen grab. Simple enough?
I'll start.

It does!
But now I can't get past your guess because I really do think it's from a Pink Panther film.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Keep trying, not from any of the Pink Panther films. -

I assume the pictures are taken from when the movie is playing, rather than just promotional stuff that's out on the web? -
- CommentTimeApr 11th 2008
Yeah. I just did a DVD screen grab. -

I have no idea where the picture is from, but how do you make DVD screen "grabs"? Do you have to have a special program for that?I am extremely serious. -

Could you just do a screen grab of the monitor whilst viewing a DVD on pause using something like Power DVD. Then crop the image down to just the movie frame?
Would this be an alternative to having DVD ripping software? The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I tried that once, but when I pasted the image into Paint (which is the only program that can do this), the media player just had a black screen....no image.
I do have a couple of DVD programs, though...Handbrake and Yasa. Maybe these can do it?I am extremely serious. -

I've had a look at Power DVD and there is a "capture frame" option. So maybe other DVD players have the same option?
In the meantime, here's a frame that I captured to see if it would work. Anyone know what it is?

Guess The Clip
Is it Corto Maltese? -

I use VLC to capture DVD frames. It works really well and is an awesome video player since it will play just about any type of file format.
As to the present clip, I have no idea. For some reason I want to say Howl's Moving Castle, but I don't think that's right. -
- CommentTimeApr 14th 2008
Nope! It's not Howl's Moving Castle - but you're in the right part of the world!!

Don't be so dismissive, Tim!! Being a film music forum the movie the clip is from is likely to have a score that's readily available. Look at the clip carefully...what does it show? And which animation movies from "the right part of the world" would feature what's prominent in the frame??The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Another guess-- Steamboy? That's the only thing I can think of for a Japanese animation that might feature a French character. -

Steamboy it is! Well done.
I think that the character is English - hence the St. George's cross in the middle of the honor.
That was fun...next!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn
