Couldn't agree more with Michael; i have a feeling this is going to be one of the year's most important releases.

Whoooaaaah there with the hyperbole D shocked

Let's wait and see ( hear ) wink

Why not? Lust, caution was one of the best scores of last year and Desplat always delivers something extraordinary, one way or the other.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

The reason for not getting an advance is Paramount, yuk. If you remember last year with The Golden Compass I got the material well in advance. I may get the material in two weeks, hopefully.

My advance review copy arrived today of CCBB and as expected it is yet another wonderful experience into the world of Alexandre Desplat. In a single word delicate comes to mind. Will hope to have my review completed by the end of the weekend.

If you don't mind my asking, how have you been getting these? (Golden Compass too.) Do they seek you out, do you solicit the label? The composer's agent, Gorfaine-Schwartz? Costa Communications?

I think Mr. Desplat took a bit of a liking to me because I was so fond of his classical CD.

As a result he has sent me some advance material.

I listened to all the sound clips from the Benjamin Button CDs: it seems that the second CD is just dialogues and period songs. But anyway, what I heard from the first CD, the actual score CD, it sounds great. I have only one problem: judging from the amount of tracks it seems that there will be many short cues which I don't like. Thomas, can you give us some info about the length of the tracks?

Indeed, the sound clips impressed me very much!

And the amount of tracks, keky, shouldn't necessarily mean anything. I read that there is around 80 minutes of score composed by Desplat, and if that can fit on one CD, I see no reason why it wouldn't be there.

80/23 is more than three minutes per track (give or take some here and there).

    Could be sharp...

    2. Lea’s Theme (1:47)
    3. Dimna Yudda Performed by Chet Nuneta (2:01)
    4. Chosen One (5:48)
    5. Nerio’s Theme (2:38)

    12. The Orphanage (2:26)
    13. Hidden Souvenirs (2:51)
    14. Dugi Otuk (1:26)
    15. Vision In The Waves (1:08)
    16. Largo Jumps (1:34)
    17. Anna’s Death (3:48)
    18. Melina (3:13)
    19. The Deal (2:16)
    20. Korsky (3:12)
    21. Freddy's Betrayal (1:43)
    22. Ferguson (1:30)

    24. On The Run (3:18)
    25. Roof Fight (2:27)
    26. Epilogue (2:01)

I think this is going to be another impulse buy, because the combination of the name Alexandre Desplat and the words "James Bond-ian action score" make me weak in the knees.

But the crap news is that Varese are ONLY going to release it on iTunes for now, and the CD won't be available until next year. crazy

Better news is that you can hear some of it here, and it sounds fantastic!

Some of it? I'm hearing quite a lot full tracks, if I'm not mistaken, and you can go forward and backward in the tracks.

It's not really keeping my interest, though. It sounds like a rather standard work with little imagination.

8 sample tracks. About 17 min of score. Not much impressed at first listen.

You can order the CD from mid-December from Colosseum Records, Varese's European distributor.

    Where?

    https://www.colosseum.de/colosseum/prod … 46865bebd8

It just has "Coming soon" as does the Varese site.

Well, might as well try to buy it and see what happens. I know the Varese site first said "coming out on the 16th". Then they updated it to "only coming out on itunes on the 16th". The Colosseum site is usually a few days behind, but might as well try anyway!
