Oh well. I guess we'll have to wait to see what kind of tone the film ends up having. I was quite disappointed in The Force Awakens to be honest and I rarely returned to the score after the initial couple of listens (as much as I worship Williams).

First Contact is horrible indeed. I laughed tears (first that violist and then her heee heee heeeee), but it's sad.

I don't know why they want so many soloists in this concert. Are they afraid the orchestra can't fill the show with excellent music? That there isn't enough to see and hear?

Desplats music was good thankfully. I'm on my second listen now with headphones.

Looks like a good concert if you're a Desplat fan. They're repeating the first half about 'space' which they also did in the Horner concert, though. But I guess you can never have too much space.
    I am extremely serious.
  2. That concert really is lovely. Highlights what a major figure Desplat is in the history of the medium. And that's without anything like Birth, Ghostwriter or tree of life making an appearance.
A butterfly thinks therefore I am

That's the concert that's also on the Airlines CD, apparently they put it back up. The concert has a longer programme, also including Valerian, The King's Speech, The Ghost Writer and Harry Potter.
