    I thought that I'd start a thread specifically about a possible meeting this coming summer. Post your ideas of where and when to get things started and we can see what we can do.

    I did suggest Bristol as a possible venue as both Tim and James live there. I've been there once and from what I remember there are parts of Bristol itself that seem quite nice - though I'm not sure where the nexus of activity for any meeting would be.

    From my perspective I was thinking of travelling down and maybe staying at somewhere cheap-and-cheerful (Travelodge, Premier Inn, etc) in/near Bristol.

    As for possible events:

    - There's a concert of music from Doctor Who at the Royal Albert Hall (as part of the Proms, Sunday 27th July) - http://tickets.royalalberthall.com/seas … ear=7-2008

    Nothing yet for Royal Festival Hall or Barbican.

    The waterfront and Clifton areas of Bristol would be a great place to socialise.

    It would be a real shame if our visitors didn't get to see the magnificent setting of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

    I'll try to make it! Depending on numbers then I'm happy to host a barbecue and allow people to sleep on the floor of the garage (and there are a couple of cheapish hotels near here for those unwilling to take up my generous offer).

    This sounds like an embryonic plan. I haven't been to Bristol for years!

    If anyone feels like a London gathering before then, don't forget about Filmharmonic 2008 on May 9th!

    I gotta say... London is probablly the easiest for the foreign aliens to visit. Plus, London rocks. I've been there once during 2 incredibly demanding, exhausting days (the most exhausting 2 days of my life, probably, without trying to be overly dramatic), and in the rush, I noticed what a wonderful city it must be, and that I had to return some day without all the obligations (and company) I had at that time. So, that'd work for me best cool (not saying we ought to keep it there; just my two pennies).

    London is a great city - but an expensive one! And not all that practical for a large group to meet in. But I'm happy to go with the flow.

    I'm up for London more than Bristol to be honest. It would be good to have a day out there (but if people plan to stay overnight then it might get a bit costly).

    I don't know about 5 days (work you know) but I'm definitely interested in a couple of days, in a hotel or at Southal palace biggrin

    To be honest: I'd rather go to the Doctor Who thing for sheer novelty value.
    While technically, epically and historically I'd rate most scores of the other concert higher (except Mission: Impossible...what the hell is that doing in there?) I've heard them all done to death now.

    Yeah, I'm a bit tired of hearing the ''famous'' film music. We want all the newer stuff. Speaking of which, the most interesting performances at Ubeda were the Powell, Arnold and Debney stuff. No more Williams! tongue biggrin

    You'll think differently if one day you're lucky enough to see Williams at the podium and then it'll be Powell? Arnold? Debney? ....who they? wink
