Broken Arrow, The Rock, Black Hawk Down , MI2, Pearl Harbor, Thunderbirds, Da Vinci Code, Batman Begins, Pirates

Actually, I've heard a good share of it. Aside from Pirates, I don't have any of the above scores any more. Let that be my opinion. smile wink

If you want to know who is the real Zimmer, you should listen to A World Apart, Paperhouse, Rain Man, Beyond Rangoon, Black Rain, Backdraft & The Thin Red Line...

The Rock & Thunderbirds aren't Zimmer... biggrin

Indeed, those are perhaps the only few titles where Zimmer wrote most of the score.

Undoubtebly. Mentioning Hans Zimmer's works without The Lion King is incomplete. And The Prince of Egypt too!

Wow...Anthony...Some of his weakest scores ever.

BHD is cold and very hard to listen. Batman Begins dissapointing.Thunderbirds (is not by him) a uninspired copy of powell. M:I 2 annoying. Pearl harbor good love themes, terribly dramatic stuff....Broken arrow, cool for me, but too synthetic to hear now.

(I can't understand how you can't like Da Vinci or The Rock anyway...)

I understand you, Now When I have heard more composers there are a lot of scores by Zimmer I can't listen.

You don't have to listen Paperhouse , A world apart or Rain man. They are not the music you will like. Im a Zimmer fan but I hardly enjoy this simple and synthy scores. They were fresh in his time...But you certanly have to listen more his smaller scores.

    Try with:

    Crazy

-Radio Flyer (You will see how much influence this score was for Powell's scores)
-A league on their Own (the Same here)
    -Muppet treasure Island

    Charming

    -As good as it gets
    -I'll do anything
    -Spanglish
    -The Holiday
    -An everlasting Piece

    His sound

    -Backdraft
-Crimson Tide (Only for his main theme and some choral stuff)
-k2 (Broken arrow modern sound, with a lot of real orchestra)

    Dramatic-Depressive

    -The Thin Red line
    -House of Spirits
    -The Last Days
    -The Ring
    -Hannibal

    Ethnic

    -Prince of egypt
    -The Lion King
    -Beyond Rangoon
    Ters of the Sun

You don't have to spend money...You first can try to listen, and then buy it. You know How do it.

Just the last track... Is sure by HGW. It's borrowers all around. But doesn't matter. You know that...

The rest is Zimmer....You can notice Peacemaker very much on this one. and His action writting.

Oh...You can do what you want.

Zimmer has a lot of Fans...He doesn't need you listen more of his score. I certnanly I don't need this either tongue

There are a lot of composers better than Zimmer. And you are from other generation. A younger one. So your Zimmer is Powell. wink

It would make things neater if discussions that are obviously moving over to other composers are continued in the composer's own thread. A reference back to the other composer's topic would link things.

All it needs is discipline!! wink

Well..I didnt start the conversation about Zimmer here.

We are talked enough about Zimmer all this years, I just was trying to make some recomendatiions to Anthony.

But He clearly doesn't want t hear more Zimmer, And I respect that.

Probably if I was joined film music world with powell, wich is Zimmer soul but with more technical knowledge, I was not interested in Zimmer neither.
  5. I never accused you of starting the Zimmer discussion here, Jordi. And the comments were not directed specifically at you; your comment just happened to be the last one in this thread when I came back to maintitles.net.

It's definitely great to recommend scores (from any composer) to others - especially if someone has a greater experience with the composer. I was just suggesting that if we could all try and keep extended discussions to specific composer's threads then it would help people find things later on on specific composers.

I wonder what the slight change in track titles from the promo is for?
