I've heard Jumper. biggrin It's very, very interesting. A combination of rock and classical music mixed with electronics. Think big X-Men style action music that's more rock influenced. punk

Edit: Lakeshore have just added 1 track ("Coliseum Fight") to their MySpace page. That should give you an idea of what the score is like. http://www.myspace.com/lakeshorescores Enjoy! wave

How long it is? it Has a good theme?

It's like the orchestra from X-men but the anvils and massive drums have been switched with a rock band. Sadly some of the score is more of a drone, but it's no way near as bad as MICHAEL CLAYTON. wink

Hey, I'm happy, the electronics are back! cheesy

    Anthony! AMAZING!

However...keep in mind that knowing who wrote the music itself doesn't tell the whole story...Powell, for example, wrote the Main Titles of Chicken Run, but its stated elsewhere by Harry that he wrote the theme that Powell used in the Main Titles.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

Correct Matt, I was just interested into who wrote the individual cues however. wink But you are right, Harry apparantly wrote the main theme for Shrek too.

Hehe, I can picture them going over it themselves when meeting up at some party, several years later, both a little drunk...

"Y’know, it’s pretty amazing, eh? That I wrote that Chicken Run theme?"
    - "Haha, good un, ol’ chap, but we both know I wrote that!"
"Pardon me? No, no, dear friend, I’m pretty sure it was me!"

    biggrin

Geesh, the news really changes everyone's opinion of HGW? Really? Once you listen to Harry's whole discography, you can pretty much have a firm idea about his style, what kind of movie he'll score and how he'll deal with it. One thing for sure, across the board, is that Harry does know how to write strong thematic materials.

In the end, comparing John to Harry is like comparing John Williams to Jerry Goldsmith. They're different composers who writes different kind of music for different movies.

That said, the info about Antz did surprised me a bunch. I thought that "The Big Shoe" and "The Magnifying Glass" was HGW's contribution as well as "Z To the Rescue".

Would have liked to know more about Shrek though.

This is just my opinion, but I really think John Powell is a better composer than Harry Gregson-Williams. I think his scores are more consistently good.

That's like comparing 'comparing Hans Zimmer to Mark Mancina' to 'comparing Bruce Broughton to John Scott'.

Obviously Harry has talent, And he's a good composer.

But Powell is another league, in the league of Zimmer or Goldsmith. Composers with genius, they has an unborn talent to compose tunes, to experiment and brave enough to be originals.

Im sad to say, Harry "tricks" are to obvious after 2 scores. " spy game" all around, even in more Symphonic scores like Narnia or Simbad.

(No one is surprised to see "Rats" composed by HGW? "

I wouldn't quite put Powell on par with Zimmer and Goldsmith (I wouldn't put Zimmer near Goldsmith anyway!). There's there's 3 tiers of composers in my mind - the legends (Williams, Silvestri, Goldsmith, Poledouris etc.), the incredibly good (here's where I'd put Powell, with Elfman, Giacchino etc.), and the up and coming such as Lennertz and Shearmur.
