I reckon it'll be up on the Varese official site soon enough. The same thing happened with John Ottman's Astro Boy score after all.

The score on the website sounds like typical Powell orchestral goodness - liked it!

the music on the website sounds really great. a little bit like the "mammoth theme" from ICE AGE 2. i hope the score is more epic with strong themes and not so quirky like ROBOTS, HORTON or ICE AGE 3.

    Here we go -

    HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by John Powell

From the studio that brought you Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda comes the 3D adventure, How to Train Your Dragon. Set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on the book by Cressida Cowell, the action comedy tells the story of Hiccup, a Viking teenager who doesn’t exactly fit in with his tribe’s longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers. Hiccup’s world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon that challenges him and his fellow Vikings to see the world from an entirely different point of view.

Animation veteran John Powell (Shrek, Happy Feet, Kung Fu Panda) provides the spectacularly epic score for choir and orchestra.

DreamWorks Animation opens How To Train Your Dragon nationwide on March 26.

AV: How did you create the musical voice of this universe with composers Hans Zimmer and John Powell?

JS: It was very important to us, as we made a list at the beginning of the movie of things we wanted to do and things we didn’t want to do, was not to have a soundtrack that had contemporary pop songs in it. We wanted a more traditional tool, and an orchestral score. We wanted to make a big, epic movie. So, we knew we wanted a very large scale accompaniment to the film. And we just went so lucky because the very finest composers working today, who had both the ability to create lush musical landscapes, wanted to work together. So, there is a huge, majestic, epic quality to Hans’ music and John’s exciting and innovative ideas. We absolutely love this music!

MO: We told them from the very beginning we wanted our film to be an intimate story about one character, but the backdrop was just epic, with a very formal and martial world. So, for us, it was a strong contrast between the two elements that were the most important to our storytelling, and we wanted them to explore that aspect. So, Hans gave us this huge, epic and beautiful dragon warrior theme, which is very emotional and very sweeping and John was the one who provided us with our very simple, very humble Po music. From both of them, we knew that it would be the perfect marriage because the film was a marriage of extremes. So, it was very smart that they were able to work together. These artists really put their heart into this and that was pretty amazing for us!

The Green Zone samples are nice, sounded like a more robust version of United 93 with classic Powell percussion/electronic style and some Bourne-like strings.

71 minutes? In only 25 tracks? You've got to have at least fifty on a Powell score.

Green Zone sounds good. I think it deliberately not trying to sound like Bourne, and as a result it reminds me of something more MV-ish than Powell, but I need to hear more of it before I make up my mind.

I wouldn't have thought it would be the whole score, but all releases should be this kind of length. 40 minutes just doesn't cut it.

I just hope Thor doesn't see this.

I wasn't a big fan of the Bourne series as well in the beginning. It sat there on a shelf after a single listen, for half a year, until I picked it up again in some crazy mood. Man, had I been missing things! Perhaps I'm simply not ready yet for Green Zone.
