Haha. Man, get rid of all those, gather your ownership rights over THAT.HUGE.HOUSE onto your own family, alone.

As for film music geeks, you DO know we are all tremendously charming guys and hot ladies too, don't you? wink

HOT LADIES?!?! Ah, why didn't you say so in the first place? I've already fired up the barbecue! smile
    I am extremely serious.
  1. Hoping for a couple of days at the end of July in Bristol and then the family holiday - a couple of weeks on the Isle of Skye.

I fell off the pavement onto the road - while completely sober! It hurt a lot at the time but is a bit better now (though my foot has gone purple). I'm on crutches!

    Ouch!!

I remember I badly sprained my ankle during the first SOCINEMAD in Madrid and spent the last day or so hobbling around. And it was when I was sat in the airport, waiting to fly home...and watching the bruise on my ankle getting larger and larger as I waited that I decided to visit the airport medical centre (where no-one spoke English, but luckily I had a great big bruise to show them).

It's horrible being away from home when you sustain an injury!

Anyway, enough about me...I hope that you are not laid up for too long. There should be enough beer in the fridge to see you through a couple of days. Maybe with the spare time you could tot up my sporty clips answers?
    wink

No! That's too bad. I hope it happenend at the end and not on the first day?
The 'good' thing is it forces you to get some rest perhaps. Except if you're a restless person, then you'll go nuts.

Not going on a summer holiday. In may we went to Czech Republic for a week. That was the summer holiday!

Since I have six weeks off as a teacher I must admit not going away in the summer makes it a long six weeks. The weekend in Bristol was a nice break. And we'll do fun stuff, days out, but still it means being at home all the time. With this experience I've had now after teaching for two years I think it would be wise to go away in the summer holiday next year. We'll see!

Off to the beautiful beaches of Chalkidiki, Greece with my babe. August the 23 onward. punk
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  4. In response to Bregt's request here's a few photos from our holiday on Skye. Although the photos suggest that we didn't have very good weather, we only had ~1 day of rain. It was cloudy a lot of the time but it stayed dry. Good weather for some walking.

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 000947.jpg
We were staying a self-catering "cottage" in Portree - the main town on the island. The cottage is a converted mill - and you can see the roof of the cottage (grey building) in the centre of the photo.

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 000912.jpg
The view from the cottage looking out across Portree harbour. In the distance is the island of Raasay.

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 000923.jpg
We spent a lot of time walking at on the island it's amazing how different the scenery can be. In this photo, and in the distance there's the pointy "Old Man of Storr". Apparently, the escarpment to the left of the Old Man is basalt lavas and over time there's been extensive land slippage as a result of the ulderlying sedimentary rocks giving way. This photo shows better the slippage:
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 000984.jpg

We did take a walk up to the Old Man of Storr but the closer we got the cloudier it got:
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010054.jpg
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010048.jpg
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010055.jpg
All around us it was clear blue skies but the moist air coming off the sea formed clouds on top of the escarpment. By the time we got there we were in amongst the clouds. So we didn't see the view from up there but the walk up with the Old Man in the coulds was much more spectacular!!

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010190.jpg
Skye is a geologists paradise and this weird weathered sandstone in Elgol is a sight that still amazes me - even though I've being going there off-and-on since I was a young boy.

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010166.jpg
There's a great example of glacier-scoured landscapes at Loch Coruisk. Here the gabbro rock is great for climbing because it's very rough - but can be razor sharp.

There was also the chance to do wonderful coastal walks. We had a great walk (and great weather) when we did a walk from Glen Brittle:
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010119.jpg

And at one piont the colour of the water was just like being somewhere more tropical!
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010158.jpg

Wildlife was also prevalent on our holiday. Especially when we went the the chippy. The local gulls were very experienced at getting scraps from the tourists:
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010112.jpg
And I had better luck this year getting some photos of the sea eagles near Portree:
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 000970.jpg
And I managed to get at least one shag on the holiday:
    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l63/s … 010099.jpg

Overall, the holiday was great. We had some wonderful walks which even the children enjoyed. And it was my birthday when we were there and so I managed to get a £45 bottle of Talisker and was treated to a posh lunch at the Kinloch Lodge Hotel.

    Hope you like the photos!

I love Skye, a magical place indeed.

    Thanks for sharing Alan. smile

Pity some pictures are bit small, some of these views look awesome! Misty mountains, rocks appearing and disappearing, colours and lakes, ... What a nice island. I'd love to go once.

Is that Talisker a bottle of whiskey?

Yes, Talisker is a bottle of whisky. http://drwhisky.blogspot.com/search/label/talisker (Malt Mission 2007, #165) lick

Off the West coast of Scotland, nearly North enough for the midnight sun and you can see Aurora Borealis from there. ( something I've never seen but really want to )

No but I'd love to. Did anyone in the UK watch Charlie Boorman's (of Long Way Round) latest programme, By Any Means? He had to travel from Ireland to Sydney by any means possible. I think he must have eventually used more than 100 different forms of transport. I missed the finale episode where he arrived in Australia because... I was in Australia and couldn't watch it. dizzy Anyway, he travelled through both Cambodia and Laos and it looks like a fascinating area of the world.

It's extremely uncomfortable for taller people when one has to travel.
The border with Vietnam is positively teeming with drug runners, and things may get very hairy in the blink of an eye.

...but I'd go for the food! lick

The plan (nothing arranged or definitive) is travelling through Loas and Cambodia (entering via Thailand or Yunnan Province (China), in three weeks. Not sure if that's enough or too much. Still looking for that, so all input is welcome. I'm going to send you a PM Pawel.

Yes, I'm looking forward to the food as well. I was so positivly surprised with the Chinese food, and they say Cambodia's even better + Laos lives on fruit juices! But I read a few times that especially the people are so memorable (in a good way that is). Obviously, we want to see Angkor Wat too, and elephants and dozens of temples. smile

Not really, but I don't spend money on lots of unnecessary things though. And I didn't threw out the money of my first paycheck, like I know some friends did. wink

Plus, after Norway (even if that was with cheap camping!) we needed something cheap. Loas and Cambodia are very cheap! (I don't want to think about the fares to get there yet wink ) And even then, Norway was paid with all money I gathered from student jobs over several years. I think I couldn't spend it much better. smile

Woops, perhaps not that useful then. He's going to Angkor Wat then in these 3 days?

You can always take the safer option of flying from Thailand.

I'm an idiot and would take the overland route. wink
