There's also a "Scoring Stage Visit" interview with both Snow and co-wrter/co-producer Frank Spotnitz on the music for The X-Files: I Want to Believe:

Sounds... intriguing, to say the least.

One day before the announcement of the release ... you got -- the promo copy I was trading for arrived. Now it's worthless in trade.

Anyway, I listened to "Coeurs" and it's okay, nothing really special; that's why it's not sold out. There are other Snow scores that need a release first.

Sounds very nice though. I've bought it, and Snow isn't a name that would normally summon a purchase order from me. The soundclips were persuasive, I thought.

BSX put out a score CD of Snow's 2007 score PRIVATE FEARS IN PUBLIC PLACES this week. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned, and since it's a 1000-only run, I'm even more surprised it hasn't sold out.

I'm surprised that you would think that it would sell out so quickly. Though, listening to the clips for Silvestri's Delta Force...now that's a surprise that that sold any at all!! wink

I am very interested to hear how this one will come out although i have no clue, apart some hints here and there. Any thoughts?
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  3. And now aintitcool has done an interview. Here is the best part:

SK: What about the series? I remember when THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT CD came out. I was very excited they finally released your music from the show. Any future plans of releasing more?

MS: I understand that there’s going to be CDs released on the other series that Chris did: MILLENNIUM, THE LONE GUNMEN, and HARSH REALM.

They’re talking about this massive compilation of THE X-FILES too. But nine years times…it could be ten thousand minutes of music! That would be a real challenge to choose from that much music but I understand that that is in the works too.

I can confirm from another source that this is indeed being compiled; wether it will com to fruition though...

That being my point. 1000 of anything seems to be the thing these days for a composer whose name is familiar, and Snow fans certainly have to wait a long time between drinks! wink

Thanks for the reviews Tommy. Considering the fact that I gave the first X-Files score 4.5 stars and you 3.0 makes me feel very assured that I'm going the like the second score almost as much wink

    hehe, thanks Joep
But trust me, whatever made the first one great, the second doesn't have at all
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh
  7. Aside from his interview comments that "CDs" were being compiled, Snow also said in another new interview that another X-Files score CD (Aside from the one to the new film) would also be on the Decca label, and one of the series creators posted a reply at the end of a question posted to him here:

    http://www.biglight.com/blog/2008/06/ma … music.html

Hopefully this time there will be NO dialogue mixed in.

  8. Well, a brand new interview with Snow has him saying he is scoring Alain Resnais' new film:

"The Incident" (Foreign title: Herbes folles, Les)

Add to that in another recent interview where he said he was scoring "Knights of Appletown", and his GSA Music page listing "The Hunter" (though he's not on GSA Music anymore; maybe he switched representation?) and scoring "Armageddagain: The Day Before Tomorrow", makes for a year of new Snow scores.

x-files: i want to believe, review.

    http://www.musiconfilm.net/get_review.php?id=209

"the majority of the music is dark and, as one person put it, "keeps to its self". Much of it offers little commentary outside of the film, so while the score undoubtably has its memorable moments, you may find yourself skipping over large sections of the CD simply to hear Snow's wonderful themes in full."

if you have to skip large portions of music to get to the good stuff, then I'm right in assuming the score lasts 2 times as much, ah well nice review albeit a little more positive than mine wink

  10. The upcoming DVD is reported to have an isolated score. No word on whether it's the whole score, or just the contents of the CD like some isolated scores do.

justin, only the Blu-ray version of X-Files: I Want to Believe will have the isolated score option (and not the standard-definition DVD). I'd be thrilled if it was on the regular DVD, though.

  11. In a new interview on another site -- which I didn't save the link for -- because of his hectic shedule, Snow has decided to not come back for the new season of "Smallville".

  12. Trailer for the supernatural thriller "The Hunters" Snow is scoring:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS55aUL-jrE

That's definately his score in the trailer. And there is score definately by him on the website: http://www.humal.net/

Snow appears to have been dropped from GSA Music. His resume is gone from the roster, though you can still find it via Google.

Also, as I reported in the thread "Upcoming Film Scores", he's scoring Chris Carter's upcoming movie.

The one Mark Snow score that truly has me jaw-droppingly impressed is Born to Be Wild. The rest of his work is just so blah to me... Any recommendations?

  13. Well, it's hard for me to recommend when the score you note of being impressed by, is one I consider blah. slant

If you like his X-Files work, then I recommend getting the Perserverence Records CD of "Dark Skies". There is a suite from the pilot which he scored, and it's exactly like his work on "The X-Files".

But you might enjoy -- while I don't -- "20,000 Leages" and "The Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All".

Well, I really didn't enjoy his work on X-Files... And Helter Skelter makes me vomit So yeah, perhaps I'd like your latter recommendations!
