  1. WHY ARE WE YELLING???!!! wink

Composer for every episode of the Chris Carter series "The X-Files" and "MillenniuM", and currently "Smallville", has listed on his GSAmusic.com resume a film called "The Hunter" -- which the film, director, and producer have no IMDB page.

Composer Mark Snow has confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores that he has signed on to score The X-Files 2, the sequel to the 1998 feature film that followed the phenomenally successful sci-fi TV series

  6. I'm having a chance to listen to the suit from the pilot of "Dark Skies" on the Perserverence Records CD (the rest of the episodes were another composer) and it's not distinguishable from an X-Files episode score AT ALL, so for all you X-Files score fans that wished there was more score released, I strongly urge you to pick this up.

The German one-sheet poster for X-Files: I Want to Believe confirms that there will be a soundtrack album, which will be released by Decca. I very much doubt it will be a soundtrack release with songs in it, just a score-only album.

Why...? After all, Fight the Future at first only got a songrelease, with contributions from Björk and The Foo Fighters slant (btw, if we're to believe that poster, Mulder and Scully will be portrayed through CGI).

Well, The X-Files just isn't at its popularity peak like it was in 1998. I wouldn't put it past Decca to do a song-and-score release.

I hope not. I really enjoyed Snow's music from Fight the Future. In fact, I just listened to it yesterday for the first time in years (literally), and I was like.. why the heck don't I listen to this more often?!

I just stumbled upon that a few days ago. There will be, but I forget the label's name.

I know that Decca is releasing a soundtrack album in Europe, but are they releasing it in the U.S. too? Or will it be another record label, like Lakeshore or Varese?

New information on the Amazon productpage of The X-Files: I Want to Believe:

"Dying To Live" written and performed by Xzibit on the new soundtrack! The movie's evocative music (score) is by long time X-Files composer, Mark Snow. In addition to the score, the soundtrack has three additional tracks: Xzibit's "Dying To Live," "Broken" by hip-hop's Unkle and the "X-Files Theme," remixed by Unkle.

    A remix. Yay. rolleyes

Ok, the three tracks I´m gonna skip. Good to know in advance.

Nice to see that Decca is putting all the actual songs at the end of the album, and not sprinkled throughout. And track 21 is probably that orchestral rendition of the TV theme Snow was talking about previously.

Yeah, I hate pointless acronyms. With a passion.
  8. BSX put out a score CD of Snow's 2007 score PRIVATE FEARS IN PUBLIC PLACES this week. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned, and since it's a 1000-only run, I'm even more surprised it hasn't sold out.
A butterfly thinks therefore I am
  9. One day before the announcement of the release ... you got -- the promo copy I was trading for arrived. Now it's worthless in trade.

Anyway, I listened to "Coeurs" and it's okay, nothing really special; that's why it's not sold out. There are other Snow scores that need a release first.

I actually have a promo of Coeurs that I bought off of ebay some time ago. It's nice, but nothing amazing. But its nice. smile

Now if they released Smallville, I would have it purchased within 12 seconds after seeing the news.
