Well I´d say among his best, but let´s not start a Zimmer fight in every topic
Anyway I needed to listen some great music from him, and Backdraft has been my first choice. -

Now this is the sort of MV/RC sound I like. Heartfelt and epic."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" Douglas Adams -

Not sure what you were reading into what I was saying but I honestly think that Backdraft is Zimmer at his all time best. It is his best score... hands down! I love it!

It took me a little while to figure out you meant Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. You know it doesn't take much effort to write that out! (Or should I say ITMALWTFOYMKOTCS.

Yeah, try telling that to Christopher Nolan!

I don't have a problem but when you go around proclaiming Hancock as a masterpiece when it's in reality one of the least interesting scores he's ever written, then you clearly have. And THE DARK KNIGHT a classic?!?

It's just a question of taste !
I don't care about people's opinion, about YOUR opinion...
You can tell me "A + B = C, I can prove music is good or bad".
It doesn't work like that... There's no science here, no "Orchestra = good, knowledge in music = good, synths = bad etc..."
To me, there's just two kind of music... The music I like, and the music I don't like...
I think Beltrami is the worst composer ever ? I don't care about Giacchino or Desplat ? Yeah, but I'm not listening to all their scores just to come here and say "damn, the last Beltrami is a real piece of crap !"
I just don't listen to it ! And if someone else like it and wants to say it... then fine ! Good for him !
My point is, I don't understand people here listening to Zimmer & Zimmer again just to say "Zimmer was bad last year, I didn't think he could go so far this year lol lol lol !
"
Stop listening ! -

Mate, take a look at http://hans-zimmer.com/fr/about.php i don't have a problem with Zimmer. Get real.
If you want to close your ears to other people's opinions (most of them highly respected and well-educated members of maintitles.net as well) and wonderful film music just because it's not RC crap - which you go around proclaiming as the greatest thing EVER - then it's you who has a problem.
And yeah, what are you doing here if you don't give a f*ck about others?? -

NP : OUTLAND - Jerry Goldsmith
Underrated IMO, or at least rarely talked about!?
Isn't it odd how you remember certain days in your life? I remember the ( now long gone ) record store I picked this one up in because I also picked up RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK at the same time on a lovely sunny day in 1981

I remember going to a record store in Rye once, also on a sunny day and also probably long gone (a proper oldy worldy style record store, looked like something out of Harry Potter if you can believe that!). First of all it was a great day, and second of all I picked up Balto, Star Trek II and Lost In Space and listened to them in the car on the journey back. They have since remained 3 of my favourite scores of all time! So not only are they great scores, I also partly associate them with that day - you just don't get that when you buy online or download.A painter paints pictures on canvas. Very true. I will be honest, I skipped over this score to get to Capricorn One. Sadly, I can't tell you much about Outland. I guess I should give it a spin.
