Have you NOT seen the 25th anniversary version of E.T.? The whole South Park joke was based on the fact that Spielberg REPLACED the guns at during the end of the CHASE sequence with walkie-talkies because he felt that guns had no place in the movie.

I know. But thank God Spielberg included the ORIGINAL, UNALTERED version on DVD as well. I mean, with the removal of the guns, a couple of shots had to be tossed from that chase sequence... including the guy point his rifle at E.T. and the bike gang just as they fly away.... which meant that Williams' score was ALSO butchered.

Woah mate, that really shocked me.
I have watched that SOUTH PARK EPISODE twice and i laughed as always, but i assumed it was yet another exaggeration based on something smaller-scale that actually happened but yeah, an exxageration!
I would have NEVER assumed that a perfectly logical (supposedly) and grown-up adult would ever ACTUALLY commit something so unbelievable stupid, meaningless and idiotic as such!
I thought it was yet another funny, caustic and to the point SOUTH PARK JOKE but now that i learn that it is actually true, it makes me sick!
Anyway, enough about looser-isms.
BRING IN INDIANA!

Regarding Ubuntu linux, guys... with this new version it is as easy as pie. You can now just install it directly under windows, it will NOT affect your windows setup AT ALL. So there is no need to be "afraid", like installing it on a different partition. (which you can still do, after you really liked it)
It works as follows... (again it is SUPER easy):
Go to www.ubuntu.com
Download the new version (8.04)
Burn it onto a cd (ISO)
Pop it in your cd tray while running windows.
Now you can just simply install/uninstall it, within windows (like any other program) this will take 15 minutes or so.
Re boot
That's it, now you can choose during boot up, between windows or linux. Full version, fully functional, no limitations. No risk. (you can save all settings etc... its fully functional)
and then.... tweak it to your liking, add more 3D effects (which will put VISTA absolute to shame, while running very light on resources), add programs etc etc. Computer heaven!
Don't like it? (which I can't imagine, hehe) Just simply uninstall it like any other program under windows. There is no reason to be "afraid" anymore, messing around with partitions and such. If you like it you can pop in the cd again, and choose the regular install option which will guide you through the install.

I just finished a clean install on my laptop with ubuntu linux 8.04. Did a bit of tweaking and this is the result. (while listening to Baby... Secret of the lost legend)

I would never show other people a screenshot of my desktop. Am I too shy? (Maybe the reason is that always use one of the Windows standard backgrounds?)

Click right on the desktop, choose 'Order Pictograms by' and then unselect 'Show Desktop Icons'.
