    My latest desktop screenshots:

    Ubuntu Linux 8.04
    Alpha Cube Color window borders
Compiz Fusion (that's that 3D cube effect, one amongst many other effects)
    AWN manager (icon launcher bar)
"Home made" semi translucent Lenovo logo cube caps pics... which combine nicely with the white semi translucent taskbars

Runs very smooth and speedy on a simple Lenovo laptop (1.6GHz only with 512MB ram) with a very basic integrated graphic card. Folks its free, its safe and its fun... try linux. (if you are a non-pc gamer) Any questions?... feel free to ask.

I cannot stand shortcuts on desktop. They drive me crazy, all i need are the real basics. For the rest - and since i am a keyboard shortcut freak-rarely touching the mouse, i have the cool vista option where you press:

    1. the windows key on your keyboard
    2. type in the first few letters of one word from the program's title you need
    3. hit enter, enjoy.

I hate crowded desktops too. I don't know how to make a screenshot, but I have five icons there - one for Opera, one for Internet Explorer, one for Trash, one for My Computer and one for my Documents-file. That's it. I just bought a new laptop that I'm writing on now, so I have a HP standard background, but I actually prefer just a black screen. Think I'm gonna change it right away.

You are talking about Facebook right? Not about Photobucket hopefully!

I've had some problems with Photobucket, so that people could see all of my picures, but I thought I solved that?!

Linux rocks, its free (as in beer and speech)... stable and fun. You can also play with cool 3D window effects. See:

Right after viewing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for the first time in May I switched my desktop to the next most anticipated film of the year...

    THE DARK KNIGHT

I've had that one on my desktop up until last week. I then changed it to THIS

My aunt's boyfriend found an old Toronto Maple Leafs book called "The First 50 Years" in his garage. Since he is a Montreal Canadians fan he let me have the book. Inside I found that great photograph of Leafs legend Frank Mahovlich and Bruins goalie Gerry Cheevers. The picture was taken between 1965 and 1967. So, I scanned it and made it my desktop.

For those who want to try something new...

The newest Ubuntu linux version (8.10) will be released today, October 30.

    go to www.ubuntu.com

    1) Download and burn as an ISO on a CD.
    2) Pop the CD into your pc, reboot, and boot from the CD (check you BIOS setting if needed)
    3) Then your pc will boot into linux, without any risks... its called a live cd session, so basically the whole operating system is running live from the cd. (of course its a bit slower, because its reading from the cd)
    4) Check it out without any risk, this way one can find out of the pc is compatible... if you like it, there is a button that says "install"... be carefull though, because you can now either overwrite your original OS (loosing ALL your stuff!!!), or you can create a double boot. (option to have two OS's on your pc) for further info, check the internet documentation FIRST before installing, if you don't know what to do!!! Check out the ubuntu forums for help.

    http://ubuntuforums.org/

If you don't like it, or want to stop. Just restart your pc and take the cd out, no harm done as you didn't install a thing. (for it was a live-session only)

    Have fun!
