    Right!

Lets talk about the elephant in the room. biggrin

Well, it's a battle between a empathic, mostly open, and perhaps slighty dreamy, candidate and a seriously conservative scary guy that barely can remember his statements (as they're sometimes so different each time). I follow the news, and as always, it's excting and interesting.

But described above is how I see it in a more simplistic way. wink

How do the USAians here see it? I'm sure I don't have the best view as an outsider, so enlighten me why one would vote McCain, or Obama.

(Europe likes Obama more!! Vote Obama!)

As an American, I'm very upset with our position in the world right now. Pres. Bush and his cabinet's disastrous policies both at home and abroad have damaged us in so many ways. From continuing a war that many feel shouldn't have even been started, to secretly wire tapping U.S. citizens, to holding "suspected" terrorists without any chance for legal counsel, to failing to even try to fix the health insurance crisis, to taking money out of social security, to taking too long to respond and send aid to Katrina victims, and so on and so fourth, I can't wait for his presidency to be over.

Personally, I support Sen. Obama. To see an African American be nominated is an extraordinary milestone given the history of racism so prevalent here. I have several African American friends who never thought they would see this. I've had the opportunity to cover two of his campaign stops for the campus newspaper, and am actually excited about politics for the first time (first time I'm old enough to vote too).

I support him for several reasons -- his position on getting rid of Washington lobbyists that influence so many policies for all the wrong reasons, his anti war stance, the fact that he has said he will talk with our enemies and not just give them the cold shoulder, his pro stance for gay rights, etc. He and John McCain are almost polar opposites when it comes to the core issues.

Whether Obama can bring about the "change" he so emphatically speaks about is to be seen, but he certainly has my support.

Of course we have a very limited view of things over here, but Obama reminds me scarily of Tony Blair, whom I had the misfortune of being governed by for a decade. So much style and charm; no substance. I might be quite wrong.

What I find interesting is the fact that American elections seem to be decided on completely different issues than ours in this country.

Obama is inteligent, charming and convincing. People are for the first time in decades excited in politics again by this man. So I obviously support him, but .... he's also dreamy, populistic and unexperienced. I'm a bit scared that Obama's downfall is inevitable in today's politic climate. Clinton was, for me , a better option. But I'm afraid America isn't ready for a black president. No matter how much support he gets, the conservative republican voters and Americans who haven't chose a side yet will always prefer a vietnamhero with no politic intelect above Obama.
  1. Neither one of these canindates should have ever been up there in the first place. IT's hard to place blame, but I think it's the ignorant American populace and voting reasons that ultimately led us to where we are now.

Obama wants to invade Pakistan if need be -- much to Pakistan's surprise. And he wants to give out more countless millions of dollars more than we give out to the world each year to feed hunger (as I recall) but every year we fall millions short in the golaed amount, yet he wants ti give out more. More!

McCain wants to give amnesty to illegal aliens, and has purposed no idea one what to do with the war in Iraq, and now a report shows confrontation with Iran is enevitable.

McCain isn't too bad, compared to the usual republican politician. One of the few american politicians with integrity, who stands by his opinions rather than changing them to accommodate popular belief.

Obama's lack of experience is a concern. Hillary was probably the wiser choice, even though I don't really like her persona.

Had I'd been an american I'd still vote Obama though, as I'm probably as far from republican as it's possible to be.

I'll roll out my "I'd vote for anyone who invented my favourite brand of oven chips!" line again.

If nothing else, it's great I think that a black man has a serious chance of making it to the White House. I thought it would never happen. Makes me feel we might start growing up a bit about such things.
  2. I like Collin Powell. I wonder what his stances were and why he decided against running.

Liking Hilary isn't enough. She hired Maggie Williams as her campaign manager. For those who donm't know how Maggie Williams is, she took an illegal donation from a foreign head in the White House, and accordign to testimony from a Secret Service guard, was seen taking papers out of Vince Foster's office shortly after his death and bringing them into the white house, and the papers ended up -- as the investigation showed -- containing Hillary Clinton's finger prints. Vince Foster was "supposedly" despressed and "suicidal".

"The White House is the most secure private residence in the world, equipped with a sophisticated entry control system and video surveillance system installed by the Mitre Corporation. Yet no record exists that Vincent Foster left the White House under his own power on July 20th, 1993."

Vince Foster knew things and secret, especially about White Water.

You all want to vote for her, consider he illmoral character and lying and what she'd really do once in office. She disgusts me and any idiot who votes for her is just that -- an idiot.

    ---------------------------------------------------
"There have been three official investigations into Foster's death, all of which concluded that he committed suicide.[14]

The first was by the United States Park Police in 1993, in whose jurisdiction the original investigation fell. Due to Foster's position in the White House, the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted in the investigation. Investigations by a coroner and Independent Counsel Robert B. Fiske, in a 58-page report released in 1994, also concluded that Foster had committed suicide.[9] Conspiracy theories of a cover-up still persisted. After a three-year investigation, Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr[15][16] released a report in 1997 also concluding that the death was a suicide.[9]

In addition, two investigations by the U.S. Congress also found that Foster committed suicide.[9]"
    ---------------------------------------------------

Of course conspiracy theoriests have wet dreams about these sorts of things, so no amount of investigation and evidence will ever change their minds.

Sad but true, a lot of little pieces in their foreign policy and tactics show it everyday. But anyway, i am not in the mood to talk politics here either, especially about the Hot Momma
