    Listened to Wallfisch's Hours the other day and was disappointed that he seemed to have dropped his love for enjoyable orchestral scoring in favour of the popular (predominantly) ambient/soundscape scoring.

    Of course, the film makers probably asked for this type of score for the film and I wondered whether they wouldn't have been better going to someone who provides that type of score on a day-to-day basis.

    Then, this morning, I read that Wallfisch now has a studio at Remote Control. I'm sure the style of scoring for Hours and his association with Remote Control is purely co-incidental.


    Sadly yes, ambient soundscape is now overtly popular amongst film producers and directors nowadays sad

    Yes, there was that one as well. Perhaps I'd blotted it out of my memory?

    Composer of Paul Walker's Latest Film Hours Donates Soundtrack Royalties to Late Actor's Non-Profit Reach Out WorldWide
    Varèse Sarabande Records to also contribute sales from the album's December 17 release

    Composer Benjamin Wallfisch will dedicate the upcoming Hours soundtrack album in memory of the film's lead actor Paul Walker, following his tragic and untimely passing. In addition, Varèse Sarabande Records and Wallfisch will respectively donate a portion of the soundtrack's sales and royalties to Walker's non-profit, Reach Out WorldWide (www.roww.org). Varèse Sarabande Records will release the Hours soundtrack on December 17.

    I did read your review of Dunkirk. I went and saw the film and was't impressed with either the score or the film. That film was crying for an emotional score.
    listen to more classical music!
  23. I loved some of Wallfisch's earliest stuff, but these horror scores of late have done nothing for me. Your review of ANNABELLE showed up on facebook right as I was four tracks into the album. You saved me from having to finish it.
  24. It seems facile to say I lost interest in Wallfisch once he went to Remote Control, but the quality of his output has dropped... Then again I've never had much love for horror scores.

    Love a lot of his output, but I hate to think he's going to turn into another rc tool. hope he doesn't, he has an interesting musical voice on his own. As for modern horror films and scores, mostly they are mediocre.
    Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

    Sadly so have I. Someone so talented writing so far within himself is very sad. Hope he builds his own name quickly, breaks away and can go back to being as good as we know he can be, on higher profile films than before.

    I'm sorry there wasn't more response from Jon and Southall. James has the pleasure of wathing his daughter grow up. Far better than any film score.
