  1. I have another mystery clip I can't identify. It's short, five seconds, but a fanfare, so that should make it obvious to somebody:

Isn't the fanfare Shore's Lord of The Rings? The Isengard/Orc Theme?

Can't help with the first clip though.

I don't know, it's very like Mike Oldfield's Music of The Spheres.

    Try e-mailing BBC.

Does anybody recognise the music in this video?

    http://uk.gamespot.com/assassins-creed- … g-6412509/

Brian Tyler is composing the score, and the first two minutes easily sound like they could be him, but from about 2 minutes on there's an incredibly fun swashbuckling theme with woodwinds and all.

Sounds like a pretty standard (but fun) knock-off of the Pirates Of The Caribbean theme (with flourishes and variations).
I'm guessing it's either Tyler doin the hommage himself (as an ad/promo edit?), or a trailer composer thrown in the mix.

  4. It certainly isn't Korngold, Alwyn or Debney. So Martijn is probably right.

Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
  5. Watching the video now. I do like that swashbuckling little theme! Doesn't sound a thing like Tyler, though, and as the good Captain says, it certainly ain't Korngold. wink

The first two minutes sound a bit like Tyler, but if so, then it's the third-rate might-as-well-be-an-RC-composer-Tyler that I heard in stuff like Need for Speed: The Run, so I hope it's not.

Tyler has had a decent year with Iron Man 3 and Now You See Me, and Varese's upcoming release of Standing Up should also be good. I hope Assassin's Creed is just as interesting.

And is there any chance of Now You See Me getting a proper release? Even if it's just a download? I mean, his most interesting score in years and that's when the king of 78-minute albums fails me. Booo. slant

Now You See Me is a good 30 minute release that is a refreshing break from Tyler's normal over-long albums. It doesn't outstay its welcome and remains interesting throughout. Usually his albums start strong, become snooze fests throughout the middle and then pick up again at the end.
  7. It's 25 minutes, not 30. tongue

The music that's on there is definitely well-selected. And I'm not asking that it be 78 minutes, but there's so much music in the (very cool, incidentally) movie; rather a lot of repetition, I'll admit, but still more than enough decent material to make a 50-minute album. The New Orleans chase, for instance, is missing.

I guess this is the closest I'll get to a John Powell score this year, maybe that's why I want more of it.

Which reminds me that William Alwyn's The Crimson Pirate is a score a realease of which I would greatly appreciate.
I just felt like mentioning that. cheesy
Meanwhile I'll make do with the very fine suite on the Chandos-Alwyn-album.

Firstly, the new Star Wars Battlefront game looks awesome. Secondly, what music starts playing at :27 seconds into this gameplay video? It sounds like Return Of The Jedi but I don't know from what point in the movie. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2wdux … s?start=21
