Odd article...except (obviously) for Lincoln, there are plenty of colour photos for each of the four other subjects!

For all speakers of German here is a link to an artikel by the quality paper Frankfurter Allgemeine about developments in the German music economy. Germany is the fourth biggest music maket worldwide after the US, the UK and Japan. Some facts:

    - In contrast to the worldwide market, the music media market in Germany is still in decline.
    - For the first time in Germany, more physical sound carriers were sold online than in stores.
    - Germans are VERY reluctand when it comes to buying downloads. Numbers are far behind those of the other three named markets. Germans are generally conservative and slow in changing their habbits.
    - Vinyl: plus 40 %! Subcontious longing for the "good old times" in times of Euro-crisis?
    - 40% of the money is made with rock and pop.
    - More money is made with albums than with singles.
    - 63% of the Germans don't buy any music whatsoever.
    - Whoever buys more than 9 CDs per anno is called an "Intensivkäufer". (Wonder what they call people like me?) This group generates 43% of the turnover.

A very effective video about how scary drunk parents are to children. (Not that I'm trying to make any political statements here, it's just a damn freaky video!)

I saw a feature about this Italian film composer, who worked in Germany during the era of silent films, earlier tonight. He scored a film about Richard Wagner, films by Luis Trenker and Das Kabinett des Dr Caligari. His music sounds wonderful.
I literally never took notice of this guy before. Over twenty years of collecting film music and still new discoveries!

He, he....cute. 2 hours to download a paper, that's something.

Interestingly, the sale of physical newspapers hasn't dwindled that much after the advent of internet. People like to have their physical copies in hand when they're out travelling, over breakfast etc.

Other venues have dwindled -- like film and music stores -- but the newspaper still holds fast, at least compared to those.

The Norwegian prime minister Jens Stoltenberg had a publicity stunt recently -- to gear up for the coming elections -- as he pretended to be a taxi driver. A hidden camera was installed in the car:

German newspapers too. I read about it this morning. Cute idea but couldn't he potentially get in trouble for recording people like that? I assume he revealed the gimmick at the end and had them sign something?

Not really. It's just a hidden camera prank like most others. They even understand that they're part of it DURING the actual video. I assume they've asked the passengers' permission to use them in the film afterwards, like they always do in such shows.
