  2. I just read on a German news portal that CBS hired Alex Kurtzman to develop a new Star Trek TV series scheduled for 2017.
With another STAR WARS movie every year it could be a clever move for ST to return to TV.

  3. Kurtzman though. rolleyes Who next, Lindelof? OH WAIT.

Can we please have someone writing Star Trek who's not a hack?
  4. And the nuTrekkers will lap it up.

  5. Just read in From Alien to Matrix: Reading Science Fiction Film by Roz Kaveney (on Google Books):

"In Ridley Scott's film [Alien], Goldsmith reassures us after a score of appropriately sinister hoots and twitters with a big four-square triumphant tune - a fragment of Howard Hanson's 'Romantic' symphony, as Ripley prepared* for her long sleep.

face-palm-mt Someone didn't do his homework for his self-published bullshit, did he?

It gives me the creeps to think what nonsense gets published these days.

    * And - Shouldn't that be in the present tense? confused

  7. The idea of a cinematic Captain Future feature film has been circulating in Germany for years. This video is supposed to be a feasibility study, a trailer to show potential investors. I like what I see. And I like the update of Christian Bruhn's music.

  8. Here's a video, that Native Instruments did with Jean Michel Jarre about the history of electronic music and the making of of his current album "Electronica 1". It's essentially a NI promotional video but it's interesting all the same.

    THAT IS SO SEXIST!

These are highly trained professionals that should be respected for the work they do!!

Speaking of which, I have been fibbing on my taxes, so I strongly feel I should be arrested and cuffed, and possibly be the subject of some measured police brutality. Can you please forward me the mail addresses of these fine, upstanding officers so I can turn myself in?

  11. Well, the first Borg cube we saw was of course in "Q Who?". The Enterprise D has 42 decks, with layers inbetween, so imagine how big that is and then remember this scene:

  12. 1 GREATEST HITS QUEEN 1981 5.9 MILLION
    2 GOLD - GREATEST HITS ABBA 1992 5.1 MILLION
3 SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND BEATLES 1967 5.1 MILLION
    4 21 ADELE 2011 4.6 MILLION
5 (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? OASIS 1995 4.6 MILLION

I just by chance found a chart naming the five top selling UK albums of all time. I am a bit astonished. I would have thought the Beatles to reign supreme, followed maybe by Jackson's "Thriller", but no.

Thriller is number six. It's also worth noting that this list is as of February 2014.

  15. Just saw the new trailer for STAR TREK BEYOND. I like that fact that Giacchino will have a space score trilogy of is own. I am however still getting used to the fact that the same man that is directing the next STAR WARS is also producing the next STAR TREK.

[quot]Man with bionic penis to test new member...

"Gentlemen, we can re-build it. We have the technology. We have teh capability to make the world's first bionic penis. Better than it was before; bigger, stronger, faster, more girth..."

  18. Around 200 old floppy discs with information previously not recoverable, are being recovered from the collection belonging to the late Gene Roddenberry:

Well, this should prove to be interesting. Unless of course there's some shit in there about how Kirk never did any firing first and we just didn't realzie it because of the camera shots.

  19. I myself still own an external USB 3.5 floppy drive. I didn't need it in a long while, but there it is. As for those older floppy discs, I don't know if there are similar devices available.
In my experience the problem is more in the software than in the hardware. Some time ago I tried to access txt files that I created in 1992 using MS Word for DOS 5.0. Didn't manage to. You can download MSW5 for free from Microsoft and you can emulate a DOS 3.1 environment. Well, didn't work out for me. Which isn't all too bad since I still own the respective texts in printed form.
