- Comment I thought it was the most entertaining Marvel film I've seen in quite some time. You just can't take it seriously.

- Comment Watched Happy Death Day. The movie gets increasingly contrived in its second half but remains pretty entertaining. Bear McCreary's score is a major asset.

- Comment Returning to my roots and listening to a bunch of piano music. Started with Beethoven's piano sonatas and now I'm listening to some of Haydn's. A good chunk of this music I performed as a kid so it feels like I'm reliving my glory days, haha.

- Comment Last I heard, MacFarlane said they were on it but this was some time ago. 2 discs would be nice so they can fit the entire Broughton pilot score on there and have room for selections from the other episodes.

- Comment
Thor wrote No. I presume the existing playlists are heavier on the action material?
I think Christopher's hits the right balance, in terms of action vs. quieter material. It also chops out most of the hip-hop influences (which I found incredibly irritating). (I have grown to ...

- Comment
sdtom wrote I agree with you on Strauss over Wagner. However, Wagner is a learning tool that early Hollywood composers studied (leitmotif ex.).
Oh, for sure. As far as influence goes, Wagner is perhaps the most important composer who ever lived.

- Comment I agree that the recent Elfman approach is the way to go. Star Trek: Nemesis - Jerry Goldsmith Far, far better than I remember it, even in complete form. The film didn't deserve this music but I'm glad Goldsmith was his usual professional self.

- Comment Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was a delight. Cruise is a mad man with some of the stunts here (as usual) and some of the set pieces blew my mind. And what a pleasure it was to hear Joe Kraemer's fantastic score mixed LOUD AS HELL. A massive bummer he's not returning for the next film.

- Comment Star Trek: Insurrection - Jerry Goldsmith I have a deep affection for this late-period Goldsmith score. Beautiful opening theme (shockingly barely used), thundering action music and as usual with this composer, far better than the film it was written for.

- Comment I still haven't been able to make it through Black Panther because every time I hear a decent cue, it's followed by one that's mostly just drumming and electronics and I completely lose interest. By all reports, it works great in the film and is one of the better MCU scores but as a ...

- Comment Black Panther - Ludwig Göransson These super-sized digital releases for scores that can't sustain their length are really getting old. There's a decent 30-40 minute album lurking in here but at 95, this is a very punishing and unsatisfying listen.

- Comment The Cloverfield Paradox - Bear McCreary Strong beginning and ending, somewhat saggy middle (which was also an issue with 10 Cloverfield Lane). Still, some of the best action music I've heard from the composer is in this score. (The movie is to be dodged at all costs.)
