- Comment
LSH wrote VERTICAL LIMIT - JAMES NEWTON HOWARD It's a shame that this has become a relatively forgotten gem in Howard's portfolio. I'm listening to the naughty version and can definitely recommend this for an expansion. The original CD is a terrible representation. ...

- Comment
Thor wrote NP: ROMEO & JULIET (James Horner) A 'what's what' of Hornerisms, and surprisingly heavy on action material, but I like it. Not on Korzeniowski's level, but pretty good.
There are a few bits in there that make me think Korzeniowski did in fact listen to ...

- Comment I don't. The tracks on those old Zimmer albums are so long and unwieldy and not always consistent all the way through (they're not naturally flowing like James Horner's long tracks) which makes it hard to pick out the good bits for a playlist.

- Comment Hidalgo is a great fun and quite underrated score. A continuation of the sort of bright adventure writing he did in his Disney scores (and not much since then, sadly).

- Comment I think a big part of that was because Pirates used that style in a film that was seen by a lot of impressionable kids and pre-teens (whereas The Rock and Crimson Tide were geared at an older audience). So even though the films were only 7 years apart, the 10-year-old getting ...

- Comment My gateway score for Silvestri was Van Helsing haha. That actually was a pretty important score in my development as a film music listener because it was both the first time I ever listened to a score that wasn't either The Lord of the Rings or by Hans Zimmer, and also the first time ...

- Comment It is sad. I wonder why it happened. I suppose some of the pillars of the community like Timmer, Martijn, Steven, Erik, James etc simply don't post as frequently anymore and the rest have simply followed suit. I know I haven't been posting as much as well but I think that was in part a response to ...

- Comment Eh. I get it, but I think the execution was pretty lame. Jackman should have either continued developing his own theme or gone back to Silvestri's, but not write an unnecessary third that's like a combination of both but worse.

- Comment Newman deserves an Oscar at some point but would be quite a travesty if he gets it for this. It barely even sounds like him. "Night Window" and to a slightly lesser extent "Ending" are the only cues worth hearing really.
