- Comment Huh, maybe it comes from being from the generation that grew up with the latter-day Disney. Nonetheless, I love the score and the songs from a lot of those movies. Perhaps reviewing all of those will be one of my life goals lol

- Comment John Powell had some excellent horn lines in How to Train Your Dragon as well. And I definitely agree about Williams. His music was some of the first to make me truly fall in love with how a good horn can sound. (You know, when you're in 7th grade and your tone is absolute dung lol)

- Comment Haha thank you! I think he did major in composition, but perhaps he was a horn player. I have several horn playing friends who are rather good composers. I think it's because we're sort of forced to have good ears.

- Comment I love this stuff. If you really like that kind of sound, check out the London Horn Sound...or if you want some amazing music with some fun behind-the-scenes videography, look up the Vienna Horns on youtube. I particularly recommend Jurassic Park and Titanic :)

- Comment So, I've actually just been watching the TV show, but I can't help but enjoy the music too. Star Trek: The Next Generation, anyone? It's great getting to relive some childhood, and I forgot how much fun the music was. Anyone have any insight on how it was done? (Studio recording or was it ...

- Comment Fortunately, when it comes to time, I have a lot of time that is rather obligatory. I have to take an hour to an hour and a half off between practice sessions, and therefore, I have to fill that time doing something. Usually I do homework, read a book, or work on my knitting. With the stress of my ...

- Comment Haha a surprisingly musical story, actually. In 7th grade, our band director handed out packets of musical terms we all should know. I, being the only horn player, sat next to the saxophone section, who tended to be a little strange. One of them was reading through the list and found the word ...

- Comment I'm pretty sure Seattle didn't have a summer this year. It poured on my birthday this year (July 3rd) and at one point, one of our news stations reported (I think in July) that Seattle had been 90 degrees for a total of...30 minutes so far this summer. We did have one week of stifling ...

- Comment Phantom of the Opera - 2004 movie version Kind of a guilty pleasure. I liked Michael Crawford singing Phantom in the original, but I do love Emmy Rossum's Christine. Plus her stuff is in my range as an alto/mezzo. Plus, really, who doesn't like some epic organ every once in a while?

- Comment Interestingly, ever since they started making that move, I've started moving away from their movies. Maybe I'm too traditional in liking the feel of his music/scores/songs, but I'm seeing other score-dominated movies outside of Disney doing much better than those score-dominated movies from Disney. ...

- Comment I love Menken's work...though I am a child of the 90s, so I suppose I grew up with his Broadway-esque style as the standard in my mind for what a Disney movie should sound like. I loved his work in Tangled, but I was kind of disappointed that they picked someone else to do the soundtrack for Brave ...
