    *******************************************************************************

Hiya, I'm a teen from India and a big music lover- strong of will and pure of heart, endlessly lazy and endlessly hard working with a temper that waxes and wanes faster than the moon. biggrin

For some reason, the nowadays "fashionable" rock/pop songs just never clicked with me. Even though almost everybody around me hipped n' hopped to them, even to songs with catchy music but the dumbest of dumb lyrics, right from when we were in first grade, I could never enjoy this type of music for some reason. Why? Go figure wink . So up till ninth grade, I was hardly a music fan, except that I used to listen to video game music from my favourite games like Sonic 3D, Toy Story 2 etc.

However, I was attracted to the music that played in the background of TV shows and cartoons and found myself humming to these relatively unknown (out here) tunes, especially from Alan Menken's Disney classics and cartoons like TaleSpin (the day I got its promo soundtrack made my month!!), Gummi Bears and DuckTales. I never knew this music was actually released on CDs, or that many people actually have it as their main interest. Sadly, out here we knew, and almost all people still know, this beautiful art only as "background music" or "background score". Oh well! tongue

Then for the first time, after learning about it at a fansite, I listened to my first instrumental score that changed my life - The Lion King by Hans Zimmer - and one listen to his epic tracks like "...To Die For" and "King of Pride Rock" totally had me on my knees bowing to the divine power of orchestral music! Soon I started collecting more instrumental Disney stuff, mostly via Internet (go look in some Indian music shops and see for yourself how many orchestral scores you can find there wink ) and by the time I had Gladiator, again by Mr. Zimmer in my hands, I was a hardcore score fan and had found the bulk of the destiny of my music interest.

Though now I have taken up the guitar and trying to widen my range of interest in genres, my real passion was, is, and will be film score. My main area of interest is animated scores, especially Disney scores. I prefer scores which cover a wide range of emotions - action, drama, romance, peace, suspense, heroic, villainous, though I have a thing for action music. I naturally prefer scores which are primarily orchestral, but I'm ok with electronics and synth stuff as long as they're not overused (eg: "The Kraken" from PoTC-Dead Man's Chest, one of my favourite cues). You can see the reason behind the choice of my top 10 scores and favourite composers by this I'm sure! wink My # 1 top scores of all time are Lord of The Rings - The Return of The King by Howard Shore and The Lion King by Hans Zimmer.

I'm not too particularly choosy about scores either. Whether it is Jerry Goldsmith and Elmer Bernstein or Remote Control (formerly Media Ventures) synth and guitar anthems, they're all ok with me as long as I like the music. Though I do like quite some Golden/Silver age scores too, unlike most other film score fans I don't listen to them that much. I mainly listen to the 80's onwards scores and personally consider the 90's as my most favourite scores' age.

I also getting acquainted to some mainstream stuff now, and also listen to some Bollywood music. I also like to compose and record my own music on DAWs, and playing the guitar (still learning). I also have a great interest in science, especially Physics and Biology, and enjoy playing basketball and lawn tennis. I have composed quite a lot of instrumental stuff lately, and will upload it somewhere when I get time. I'd love to score a movie or at least a short programme someday!

Just for fun, here's some more stuff...
