Harold & Kumar are a very popular duo who have starred together in 3 motion pictures. The last one is A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, containing the music of William Ross. Ross is a chameleon in the scoring business, and a requested name for comedy movies. This is his first score for the Harold & Kumar movies, and what you get is the expected mickey mouse music. Fully orchestral, covering temp track moments, diverse musical styles and a massive selection of Christmas tunes, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas score is a fun listen on its own, failing partially because of the many many short cues on the album.
I mean it, quality wise, there is nothing wrong with this score. We have orchestral bursts of energy and adventure (the fun "Eggtion", the suspenseful "Black Ice", the heroic "Roldy Roll" and "WaffleBot Rescue"), cheerful (and known) Christmas tunes ("Perez Family Arrives", "Claymation", "Victory Walk", "Flight with Santa"), temp track moments (Home Alone in "Christmas Mass" and "Penis on a Pole"), (The Mask of Zorro in "Perez Story"), (The Pink Panther in "Romantic Interlude / Press Conference") or even (The Matrix in "Super Baby"), and much much more.
Fact is, despite having a lot of short cues, which is to the point and quite mickey mouse in nature, the score is overall extremely coherent and quite easy to listen to. It's fun and enjoyable on occasions, but due to the short nature of the tracks, it's difficult to get some kind of a development from most of the cues. A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas score is therefore a perfect match inside the film, and downright commendable for an occasional listen. But to call it memorable is something else.
