" A finished CD version, finally "Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the limited release
An Unfinished Life was rejected and replaced by a score of Deborah Lurie. Of Lurie's score I can't comment, but Young's music doesn't seem the type of score that warrants a rejection. At least not for this kind of motion picture. It's soft, light and lovely to listen to, music that doesn't interfere. For me it's the kind of music that's perfect for this kind of motion picture, because there's enough soft drama and emotion in it to guide the film in its quest to conquer the audience. Again, I can't comment on Lurie's replacement score, nor will I say this is Young's best. It's just lovely and good enough (with begin and end being particularly attractive), albeit a bit too long for my liking.
Calm and often beautiful music.
The final tracks "Signs of Happiness" and "We begin at the End Again" are the loveliest, flutes, strings and guitar all into one. You wonder why this had to go in the first place.
The album's too long for its own good, the bonus cues are nice but unnecessary
