Bandits

Christopher Young

" Bandits isn't exactly that interesting "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release

Bandits of Christopher Young is a score I'm not particularly fond off. It's not that the music is bad, it's more that I rather listen to something else instead. The few action cues are more centered on electronic ideas and beats rather than the orchestral idea, while the more calmer tracks aren't bad, but lack a certain guideline. If most of all, this score lacks a couple of themes and returning melodies. With the fact it also sounds a little long, Bandits is quite definitely a score for the fans and then some. Again, I rather listen to something else of him instead. One of the exceptions, "Pollard at the Alamo", a track with an attitude and a guilty "Christopher Young" pleasure.

Quite soft and emotional in the begin, I was expecting something far more spunky.
A funky and stylish affair is the Texan based "Pollard at the Alamo", quite a lively experience.
A main theme is seriously missing, to tie all the ideas together.
After a while, the mood changes and it turns away into bouncy cues and more electronically enhanced ideas (2 tracks in particular).
