Graeme Revell

" Below is not for everyone "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release

Graeme Revell remains a composer that will not attract people's attention like other composers would, no matter if he delivers something out of the ordinary or not. Below is low and behold nothing extraordinary, but in the right moments it does deliver something above par. For instance his final track is one excellent compilation piece that deserves to be heard (especially for the genre it supports). The rest is moody, eerie, scary and occasionally atonal. It's not a colorful work, but again for this kind of picture it does more than what most composers are doing today. I say job well done considering it does end with a small bang.

"Stations Ready" is a rather thrilling cue.
"Safe Harbor", the end titles piece is an excellent compilation of all the best moments of the entire score.
Overall better than expected, considering I heard far worse from similar efforts these past few years.
It remains a quite moody and dark affair.
In the end it are various tracks that keep it afloat.
