Dream Lover

Christopher Young

" Diverse ideas delivers weird and yet also interesting mix "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release

No matter how tantalizing it opens and closes, what we'll remember of Dream Lover are the carnival tunes. Remember The Haunting of Jerry Goldsmith, and remember the fact not everyone was a huge fan of it? We'll you'll have to really try your best to accept it all here. That's the negative surprise of the album. The positive one is the use of intriguing vocals and a bit of gallery play of the violins and piano, making it occasionally very inviting and intriguing. For a film that was quickly forgotten, it are these moments that make it somewhat memorable. Dream Lover is for the fans of Christopher Young, or those that saw Madchen Amick nude, and liked what they heard of accompanying music during it.

I immediately fell for the intriguing "Dream Lover" with its infectious vocals
Occasionally a bit of Chinese music too ("Black Widow")
The diversity makes it stand out from the rest, it makes it one of the little players of Young's career
A surprise I didn't like at all, the carnival tunes, with an overkill of weirdness in "One Last Dance"
