The Tower

Christopher Young

" Sincere score for Christopher Young standards "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the limited release

The Tower seems to be one of Christopher Young's most personal scores, a score he personally loves too. Written for a short story directed by his nephew, it was for him the perfect way to escape the demands of Hollywood and write something personal. The effort is definitely commendable, if solely for the heart and sincerity he puts in. The Tower is however most of all a background score, and an effort that will not wow everyone. It's lovely and occasionally beautiful, but somehow I was lost during it. The level of emotion that runs through these veins can't always keep me focused, leaving behind the feeling I might not have gotten it fully. It's a wonderful lovely little piece, and I have no doubt that several people will love to wander through such a most sincere project, with "Coeur Hanté" being the most special track. But I need my scores to pack a punch now and again.

Serene music for chamber orchestra.
Piano stands central.
Final track is the most emotional one of all, perfect culmination.
It is a typical lovely background score. It will not make an impact on the people who think big.
