Twin Peaks

Angelo Badalamenti

" Takes you back to Twin Peaks itself, just don't murder Laura Palmer again "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release

Dale Cooper: Harry, I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

I guess everyone has heard of or saw at least one time an episode of a series called Twin Peaks. After all, it was the series that gave us a mysterious death, an intriguing mood and it never felt like giving us answers. So it will be one of those series many will have started, but most will not have finished. For those who have watched it until the end, RESPECT.

Perhaps Twin Peaks is known all over the world for its mystery, but it is also known because it has one of the most recognizable tunes in Television history. And that's the sole contribution of Angelo Badalamenti. And that's what we will call from now on "Twin Peaks Main Theme". But this is not the moment I love, it is "Laura Palmer's Theme" I love to hear the most. This is the theme for the central character of the series, also heard as a love theme in "Love Theme from Twin Peaks".

Mood's one thing, and yet "Audrey's Dance" is something else. Remember the tiny guy? Then you'll remember the dance, the tune, the mystery. And yet it is the mood that makes Twin Peaks special. It makes you feel like you're actually sitting in the town itself, and the songs create a part of that magic as well. Perfectly sung by Julee Cruise, they continue on the path that the score has left behind.

Overall, I think it is fair to say one doesn't listen a lot to Twin Peaks, except when he wants to re experience the mystery all over again. It is the show in musical terms, and it is easy to understand why there was a wonderful connection between director David Lynch and composer Angelo Badalamenti. It will forever will be the one score every one will link to Angelo Badalamenti. In a way it is sad, because Badalamenti has written so much in his career. On the other hand, the composer received something others would die for, meaning eternal fame. And that will do for him.
