In honor of composer Brian Tyler's Birthday, today, May 8, 2008, I thought we could look back on some of his scores and talk about them...
I really like Tyler's "sound" (at the risk of reviving that previous discussion!) His score for Timeline is probably my favourite and is the score of his that has the most "favourite tracks". Most of the other CDs I have of his have some really stand-out cues but the rest of the tracks on CD are okay. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

The Hunted is one of his best works, especially regarding action music which is finally something not reworking some other styles (sorry, D., I think his referentiality goes as far as Darkness Falls). I'll discuss his stylistic things more when I get home, since I am in the library now and I must leave in half an hour.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

I'm a fan of Tyler's earlier work... where he showed so much promise. Unfortunately, he has been held down by temp track after temp track and hasn't really been allowed to stretch his arms out and expand his skills.
His early stuff like The Fourth Floor, Terror Tract, Frailty, Darkness Falls, his Star Trek Enterprise work and The Hunted knocked me on my ass. But then came Children of Dune and that's when the temp track fun really began. The only post The Hunted score that really impressed me was his work on The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. After listening to his interview on ON THE SCORE and how he came up with all the wonderful and organic sounds in that score I got the feeling that this guy knew what he was doing but for some reason hasn't really had the opportunity as of late to really show us what he is made of. I hope he can break out of this funk.
That's my theory.

Is he scoring "Eagle Eye" directed by DJ Caruso (Disturbia)?
I know IMDB's not very reliable but they list him as the composer. Can someone confirm? -

Howdy, I was at the Varese Bash and when I was talking to Tyler, he mentioned that he was going to be scoring Eagle Eye. I thought that he was a very nice guy when I met him there. -

Hot damn, that lucky son-of-a-bitch!
In terms of hot and attractive film composer guys, I can only think of Danny Elfman as another example (OK, so he's not as physically attractive as Brian, but he weighs up for it by his cool "rock" attitude....them female Oingo Boingo fans are surely crazy about him, anyways!).I am extremely serious. -

I had wondered whether Geoff Zanelli was asked to score this. Oh well.
