We know by now how to search stuff on the internet smile He was asking for the ENGLISH tracktitles, as the only tracktitles available on the net are in Italian only.

OK. There might not be track titles in English for many of the Italian scores. Your best bet would be to look up the album on SoundtrackCollector and see if one of the releases/compilations lists English track titles for it. If nothing works then use an online translator.

Chimai and SoundtrackCollector are good resources for Morricone album discography and track info.
  1. Online translators are terrible for converting Morricone titles - I used to do this for things like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly when I first started out listening to film music.

There are rumours that James Horner gets his long cue titles from using one such online translator!

  2. The Horner Translator?

    Enter Word to be Translated:
    The Battle

    Horner Translation:
Battle on the Mountain Top / Struggle For Survival / Victory / Battle Over*

Haha, I like that cd smile too. I going to listen it later today again during my lunch break on my handy MP4 player. Very relaxing, and just plain cool music. Glad you like it so much.

Looking at the tracks in that compilation it seems that there's a lot of Forza G and Il Gatto in it. They surely could have had a better variety eh! Nevertheless Forza G is lovely especially the Come Un Miracolo.
Here's another compilation which I like for the lesser-known Morricone, and it's 2 cd for very cheap-

I love Il Gatto! Such fine music for a film about a cake.

Speaking of which, my dad asked for "gateau" when he was Italy and the waiter started rolling around the floor. It was only afterwards that he found out "gatto" meant cat.

The most romantic piece ever composed. I always get goosebumps during 2:00-2:30, pure ecstacy.

The rest of the score is wonderful as well, several different melodies from beginning to end. "Secret of the Sahara" fans will probably love this album as well.

This was my holy grail for quite a while until I got the cd a couple of years ago. It's such a melodic knockout from start to finish. The movie was atrocious-- lots of bad acting and caricatures. The finale might have inspired Indy & the Crystal Skull.

My fave Ennio love theme is perhaps Questa Specie D'Amore. Very poignant and heartbreaking.

It's a nice and "pretty" theme, of course, but it doesn't really do much for me. I much rather prefer Morricone when he's REALLY melancholic and wistful.
    I am extremely serious.

BhelPuri and Southall, I knew I could count on you guys. smile

BP, judging by the cover on the CD, I'm not at all surprised that the movie is horrible. It looks like pure cheese. I agree about "Questa specie d'amore", love themes doesn't get better than that. Similarly "Les deux saisons de la vie", "D'amore si muore" and "Sepolta viva" are some all-time favourite love themes. Early 70s Morricone is just the best there is.

Thor, some more listens might help. I bet that I didn't find this piece that special when I heard it the first time either. Often, with the best kind of music, one needs to get to know it intimately first, before it starts affecting you. On the other hand, when music is instantly catchy, it also tends to lose its appeal quicker... in my experience at least.

Agreed! There's only holy grail of Morricone left for me now. I hope someday we'll have a proper release for What Dreams May Come instead of the b**t.

BP, yes, that's my holy grail too. Not just a proper release, but a fuller release as well. It should be criminal that art of this quality is being kept away from the public. The obsession with money and copyright gets too much sometimes. Just give us the damn thing!

My Morricone Holy Grail is The Scarlet and the Black. As far as I know it only exists on LP.
