Morning all!
Following on from the recent release of A Palace Upon the Ruins, on January 13th 2017 Howe Records and Sony Classical will be releasing Howard Shore's piano concerto Ruin and Memory and cello concerto Mythic Gardens.
Music Box Records
Amazon UK
Ruin and Memory was recorded at the premiere in 2010, performed by the China Philharmonic and Lang Lang, conducted by Long Yu.
Mythic Gardens was recorded in April 2014 at the KKL in Luzern, performed by the 21st Century Chamber Orchestra conducted by Ludwig Wicki.
This is just superb!
Really like this one as well!
Nice to see some love for this release. :-) -

I'm a listener but not a performer. But damn if that isn't some beautiful performing right there. It helps that this cue is one of the best of the trilogy and of all time.
Awesome work as always Marc. Do you transcribe all those notes yourself?"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Comments from Doug Adams on Shores' rejected score to "King Kong":
Yes, I’ve heard Shore’s KING KONG—as it exists. It was 1/3 recorded and 1/3 mockups, with 1/3 yet to be written. It’s gorgeous...surprisingly gentle and lyrical. I think it’ll be released someday, but isn’t on the immediate horizon.

Could Howard Shore be returning to Middle Earth for the Amazon series…?

He is in talks! His involvement would be awesome… -

I saw a tweet from someone indicating that he and Bear McCreary have been contracted for months to do it. Shore doing the themes and McCreary doing the rest.
I can't find anything to confirm other than secondhand comments...The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Hmm. Isn’t that wishful thinking? I see them over at Filmtracks talking about such a collaboration for months, actually, but just as speculation.
EDIT: Ah yes, just saw the tweets myself now. Hmmz…
I’m not sure how to feel about such a collaboration. Sure, Bear would bring a fresh new voice to the project, but his sound doesn’t seem to be compatible with Howard’s. Besides, he’s not exactly a composer who gets my blood pumping, to be honest - but who knows, he could surprise. -

I'd rather have Howard do it solo, but McCreary using Shore's themes (new and old) is better than no Shore music appearing at all.I am extremely serious. -

Empire is now bringing the news of Shore being ‘in talks’ as well, with no mention of Bear. I really wonder where Fans of the Fellowship got their news from, they’re not mentioning any source at all. -

Also, the original author of the tweet about Bear and Howard (Fellowship of Fans) has now been called out as “(strong) rumour” as its source. Another tweeter pointed out that it’s just a rumor and got immediately blocked by them. So I wouldn’t hold too strongly onto it . -

It sounds too much like something a film music fan would make up, honestly.
(Then again, so did the Solo assignment!)
