  1. I've never really *got* why there are film score awards for animated films. Visual medium. The genre determines the style of the music, not the fact that it's animated. I'd sooner compare PERSEPOLIS to AMELIE (Tierssen) and WALTZ WITH BASHIR to THIN RED LINE and HORTON to RAT RACE than I would compare those three animated film scores to each other.

    Indeed. I thought this wasn't so much about animated FILM SCORES, exclusively, but awards on animated films in general, of which film scores are part? Or?

    Very odd that The Princess and the Frog isn't there, since it's nominated in every other category. It's a far better album than any of those, though the only one of the films I've seen is Up so I can't say anything about how they function as scores, which is what the category's about.
